Logitech G HUB is Logitech’s current primary configuration app for gaming peripherals, while Logitech Gaming Software (LGS) remains relevant for selected older devices. The correct choice depends on your exact model, operating system, and supported features—not simply the age of the product.
Use this guide to choose the right software, install it safely, configure profiles, DPI, lighting, assignments, and macros, save settings to onboard memory, and troubleshoot detection or installation problems.
G HUB or Logitech Gaming Software: which should you use?

Do not assume that every pre-2019 product requires LGS or that every new product supports G HUB. Logitech’s gaming software catalog separates G HUB, LGS, and Onboard Memory Manager, and support varies by model.

Logitech G HUB
G HUB is the newer Logitech G control platform. Depending on the device, it can provide button and key assignments, game profiles, DPI controls, LIGHTSYNC lighting, headset equalizers, BLUE VO!CE microphone controls, webcam settings, device pairing, macros, and onboard-memory management.

Not every device exposes every feature. A mouse may show sensitivity and assignments; a keyboard may show G-keys or KEYCONTROL; a headset may show audio and microphone controls.
Logitech Gaming Software
LGS is Logitech’s older gaming configuration application. It supports assignments, DPI, profiles, macros, lighting, audio, selected wheels, and onboard profiles on compatible hardware. Logitech’s official listing identifies LGS version 9.04.28 for Windows 10 and Windows 11, last updated March 10, 2022.
LGS is legacy software, not a universal fallback for a G HUB-only device. Its official listing does not provide a current macOS equivalent.

Where to download Logitech software
- G HUB: download it from Logitech’s official getting-started page.
- LGS: use Logitech’s official LGS page.
- Onboard Memory Manager: check Logitech’s official gaming software catalog.
Avoid third-party driver sites, repacked installers, search advertisements that imitate Logitech, and old forum links when Logitech provides a live support page.
Before installing
- Identify the exact model number from the device, box, or existing support page.
- Confirm whether it uses USB, Bluetooth, or a LIGHTSPEED receiver.
- Close games and other peripheral-control utilities.
- Connect wired devices directly to the computer during initial setup.
- Plug wireless receivers directly into the computer instead of a troublesome hub.
- Charge or power on wireless devices.
- Allow the installer to install its services and device components.
- Restart if requested, then open the software and check for the device.
On macOS, G HUB may request system permissions. Grant the permissions described by Logitech rather than repeatedly reinstalling without approving them. Logitech maintains separate guidance for macOS permissions, loading loops, initialization errors, detection, and removal.

Setting up a device in G HUB
Open the device page
- Launch G HUB.
- Select the device on the home screen.
- Open the relevant customization area.
- Make one small change.
- Test it in a text field, desktop application, or game.
Labels vary between releases and products, so a mouse, keyboard, headset, and webcam will not necessarily have identical tabs.
Assign buttons and keys
- Open Assignments, or the equivalent customization panel.
- Select a button or key.
- Choose an action such as a keystroke, command, macro, system action, or supported application launch.
- Close the assignment panel and test the result outside the game.
For game bindings, also check the game’s own input settings and rules.
Configure DPI
- Open the mouse’s sensitivity or DPI section.
- Add, remove, or reposition DPI speeds.
- Select the active value.
- Optionally assign a DPI-shift button.
- Test the setting in a consistent application.
Fewer, clearly separated DPI stages reduce accidental switching. If DPI behavior changes after adjusting a wireless report rate, test Windows Enhance pointer precision; Logitech documents inconsistent DPI behavior in some combinations when that setting is enabled.
Configure LIGHTSYNC
- Open LIGHTSYNC or the device’s lighting section.
- Choose a preset or create a custom effect.
- Adjust supported colors, brightness, animation, and synchronization options.
- Save it to the active profile or device memory where supported.
Software lighting can react to applications and screen effects but generally requires G HUB. Device-stored lighting works without the app, but complex or application-dependent effects may not transfer. Windows Dynamic Lighting can also take control of supported lighting devices and change which LIGHTSYNC controls are available in G HUB.
Configure audio, microphone, or webcam features
On supported devices, use the device page to configure headset equalizers, surround options, microphone processing such as BLUE VO!CE, or webcam image settings. These features are typically software-dependent and should not be assumed to work from onboard memory alone.

Creating and managing game profiles
- Open G HUB’s profile or game-application area.
- Add the game executable or application.
- Create a profile or duplicate an existing one.
- Configure assignments, DPI, lighting, audio, or other supported settings.
- Launch the game and confirm that the intended profile is active.
G HUB provides controls for duplicating profiles, locking profiles, locking assignments, locking LIGHTSYNC effects, and blacklisting an application from automatic switching.

- The newly created profile is empty.
- The wrong executable was added.
- Automatic switching selected another profile.
- The profile was blacklisted.
- The device is in onboard-memory mode.
- G HUB is not running.
An empty automatic profile can cause defaults to appear when a game launches. Verify the executable path and test the profile while the game is open.
Creating macros
- Open the device’s Assignments area.
- Choose Macros and create a macro.
- Select a behavior such as no repeat, repeat while holding, or toggle.
- Record or add keystrokes and mouse events.
- Assign the macro to a supported button or key.
- Test it in a text editor or another harmless application.
Macros may fail in particular games, may be restricted by anti-cheat systems, or may violate tournament rules or a game’s terms of service. Logitech also documents limitations for macros in onboard-memory mode.
Software profiles versus onboard memory

To use onboard memory:
- Configure the device normally in G HUB.
- Save or duplicate the desired profile.
- Open the device settings.
- Enable On-Board Memory Mode, or the equivalent control.
- Select a device slot and assign the profile.
- Exit G HUB or disconnect the device.
- Test it on another computer.
Not every device has onboard memory. Automatic game switching does not work the same way in onboard mode, some macros are unsupported, and complex software lighting, headset processing, webcam controls, and other application-dependent features may not be stored.
Using Logitech Gaming Software
- Install the official LGS version listed for your device.
- Launch LGS and select the connected product.
- Create or select a profile.
- Configure assignments, DPI, lighting, and macros.
- Associate the profile with a game or application.
- Test it, then save it to onboard memory if supported.
LGS macros can combine mouse events and keystrokes assigned to mouse buttons or G/function keys. Logitech’s LGS documentation states that repeat functionality is unavailable while a mouse is in onboard-memory mode.

Logitech has stated that LGS 8.98 or later did not need to be uninstalled for the documented early-access G HUB scenario. That is not a guarantee that every current installation will behave cleanly with both applications. When troubleshooting, isolating one application at a time is usually clearer than changing both simultaneously.

The device does not appear
- Confirm exact model compatibility.
- Reconnect the device and try another USB port.
- Connect a wireless receiver directly to the computer.
- Charge or power on the device.
- Restart the computer and software.
- Use G HUB’s pairing tool where available.
- Check firmware and application updates.
- Temporarily test without other peripheral utilities.
- Reinstall only after confirming the correct software.

G HUB freezes on the logo or loading screen
Restart the computer, end stuck G HUB processes, and check whether security software is blocking the app. If the problem remains, reinstall using Logitech’s official installer and follow its loading-loop or uninstall guidance. Do not use random “fix” installers.
“Unable to load basic components of the installer”
Logitech’s documented procedure is:
- Delete the installation package.
- Uninstall the previous G HUB installation if present.
- Confirm that
C:Program FilesLGHUBhas been removed. - Install the latest supported Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable.
- Run the G HUB installer again.
Follow Logitech’s full installer-error procedure before removing additional files.
Macros do not work
Check the active profile, game restrictions, macOS permissions, onboard mode, and whether the macro uses a feature unsupported by internal memory. Test it in a basic text editor first. A working desktop test does not guarantee that a game will permit the same input.

RGB or LIGHTSYNC changed or disappeared
Check Windows Dynamic Lighting, onboard mode, device support, whether G HUB is running, and whether another RGB utility has taken control. Software-dependent effects cannot always be saved to the device.
Compatibility notes
Logitech’s official LGS listing covers Windows 10 and Windows 11 for LGS 9.04.28. G HUB support depends on the current installer and Windows build; use Logitech’s live download page rather than relying on an old version number.
For macOS, Logitech maintains G HUB compatibility and troubleshooting documentation. An indexed Logitech listing dated February 3, 2026 identifies G HUB version 2025.9.824733 for macOS 13, 14, 15, and 26. That is a macOS-specific listing and should not be treated as the current Windows version.
Alternatives
Onboard Memory Manager
Onboard Memory Manager is a narrower utility for compatible Logitech G mice. It suits users who need portable DPI, report rate, assignments, and profiles without the full G HUB feature set. It is not a replacement for headset EQ, BLUE VO!CE, webcam controls, advanced lighting, or application-profile management.
Windows Dynamic Lighting
Windows Dynamic Lighting can provide system-level RGB control for supported devices, but it is not a complete G HUB replacement. It may simplify cross-brand lighting while reducing or changing the LIGHTSYNC controls available in G HUB.
Logi Options+
For supported non-gaming Logitech mice and keyboards, Logi Options+ is generally the relevant application. Do not install G HUB merely because the product has a Logitech logo.
