Lords of the Fallen II is currently targeting Q1 2027. CI Games has announced versions for Nintendo Switch 2, PC via Steam and Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, along with shared-progression co-op. The biggest reasons to watch the sequel are its more dangerous take on Umbral, promised combat changes, and a wider range of places to explore—but these are still developer descriptions, not hands-on findings.
When does Lords of the Fallen II come out?
CI Games’ latest schedule update, dated June 23, 2026, targets Q1 2027. The company has not announced a specific release day. Older official pages that say 2026 reflect earlier announcement language; the June update is the current schedule. It also does not establish that every platform version will launch simultaneously within that window.

Which platforms are announced?
The official game site lists Nintendo Switch 2, PC via Steam and Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. CI Games has separately said Steam will be available on day one. That day-one statement is specific to Steam; the available announcements do not confirm simultaneous launch timing across the full platform list.

What is new in Lords of the Fallen II?
CI Games describes the game as a standalone sequel set after the 2023 Lords of the Fallen. Its official descriptions disagree on how much time has passed: the developer-authored PlayStation Blog article says 100 years, while the announcement and a later Umbral update describe a millennium or 1,000 years. Until the developer reconciles those accounts, the safe takeaway is simply that the sequel takes place later.
As a standalone story, it is not presented as requiring the 2023 game. Playing the predecessor may offer series context, but it is optional rather than a stated prerequisite.

How is Umbral different this time?
The Umbral Lamp again connects Axiom, the living world, with Umbral, the realm of the dead. CI Games says Umbral will remain a way to uncover routes and areas, but its threats are being reworked: rather than relying on a linear timer, danger is meant to respond more organically to what the player does. The developer also points to more varied biomes, more enemy variety, and Umbral’s influence reaching into the mortal realm.

If those plans hold, exploring the dead realm could feel less like managing a predictable countdown and more like weighing the consequences of how you move through the world. The precise rules and pacing have not yet been established publicly, so that distinction is a design promise, not a confirmed account of how it plays.

What is changing in combat?
CI Games is promoting more responsive fighting, expanded combat abilities and build options, brutal executions and dismemberment, and more dynamic boss encounters. The June developer episode also calls out a katana weapon class. These features suggest the sequel is aiming for a broader range of combat styles and more reactive encounters, but they remain pre-release developer claims rather than independently tested findings.

Yes. Official materials promise a shared campaign journey from start to finish, and the June developer update describes full shared-progression co-op. That is a meaningful distinction for players who want to progress through the adventure together rather than treat co-op as a limited side mode. The announcements cited here do not settle every multiplayer detail, such as specific matchmaking rules.

CI Games has also discussed Unreal Engine 5 and Epic Online Services in the context of cross-platform co-op. That describes the intended technology and infrastructure; it is not evidence of performance on any particular platform.

What should temper anticipation?
The strongest details so far are the release window, announced platform list, shared-progression co-op promise, and the broad direction for Umbral and combat. Many of the most exciting points—how responsive combat feels, how Umbral’s threats react, and how varied the biomes and bosses are—are descriptions of intended design, not a basis for judging the finished game.
- No firm launch day has been announced, and the available material does not confirm same-day release on every platform.
- The official accounts differ on whether the story is set 100 years or 1,000 years after the previous game.
- Pricing, editions, performance, and difficulty have not been established by the cited announcements.
For anyone who wants the series context while waiting, the 2023 Lords of the Fallen is an optional starting point; CI Games describes the sequel as standalone.
