Lost Ark’s Western April 2025 update went live on 23 April with progression events, an Ark Pass, quality-of-life changes and broad class balance adjustments. The documented concerns were not all the same: Amazon acknowledged risks around economy and progression changes, while players reported launch friction such as prolonged maintenance and unclear communication. Those reports do not establish that the update caused a specific widespread technical failure.
What was included in the April 2025 update?
Amazon Games announced the update on 22 April and released it in the West on 23 April 2025. It combined limited-time progression events, the Frost and Roses Ark Pass, system changes and class and Ark Passive tuning. The official April release notes list the changes.
Road to Act 3 Honing Boost
From 23 April through 23 July 2025, one character between item level 1640 and 1660 could use the Road to Act 3 Honing Boost Event for progression support and rewards. It was a bounded event for an eligible character, not a general boost available to every character.
Storm the Abyss
Storm the Abyss ran in Shushire’s Bitterwind Hill from 23 April through 25 June 2025. Starting the event required item level 1540 and completion of the South Vern main quest; completing the event quest was not required just to participate. The event added tokens, an event alarm icon and Fate Ember rewards.

Quality-of-life and class changes
The update included clearer reward visibility by gate, removal of solo penalties for leaving Ebony Cube and Guardian Raids, boss-shield damage counted in MVP calculations, slower pull and push attack patterns during skills, and Stronghold Like buttons.
It also changed many classes, including Berserker, Slayer, Scrapper, Glaivier, Gunslinger, Summoner, Paladin and Artillerist. For example, the patch notes listed Slayer PvE damage increases of 6.1% for Volcanic Eruption, 5.7% for Guillotine and 10.2% for Brutal Impact, while Artillerist’s Barrage Attack outgoing damage was reduced by 16.7%. These are values stated in the patch notes, not independent measurements of actual class performance.

What was wrong with the update?
There are three distinct kinds of concern: a publisher-acknowledged design risk, player reports about the launch experience, and technical issues that would need confirmation as specific bugs. The available evidence supports the first two, but it does not establish a complete list of April-specific, officially confirmed bugs.
Progression and economy concerns
On 8 April 2025, Amazon addressed concerns about applying Korean balance and gold changes to the Western version. The company said Western gold income and raid availability were not directly equivalent to Korea’s, and that copying the same changes could harm new, returning and endgame players. Amazon wrote, “We understand concerns about implementing certain nerfs at this stage.” It said it would monitor the effects rather than automatically apply every Korean gold adjustment. The explanation is in its April update communication.

This was an acknowledged design and progression concern—not proof that every feared nerf shipped in the April patch. In particular, the evidence here does not confirm that Advanced Honing or Transcendence nerfs were included. The patch’s Road to Act 3 event did provide targeted progression support, but that does not by itself settle concerns about the broader progression economy.
Maintenance and communication complaints
Community threads posted around 24 April described prolonged maintenance, uncertainty about Advanced Honing details and frustration with communication. Those posts show what some players reported; they are not verified outage statistics, an official incident timeline or a complete measure of player experience. No reliable maintenance-duration or player-impact figure is established here.
Were there confirmed technical bugs?
Lost Ark Support maintains a Known Issues page and separate lag and connectivity troubleshooting. These are the appropriate places to check for current technical problems, but their existence does not establish that a particular April complaint was caused by this update. Players can also submit reports through the official bug-report channel.
Did the April update break Lost Ark?
The available evidence does not support saying that the patch broadly broke the game. It does support saying that players reported launch friction and that Amazon recognized the sensitivity of progression and economy changes. To assess a specific problem, check whether it appears on the official Known Issues page and follow the relevant troubleshooting guidance before treating it as a confirmed patch bug.
