Love Has a Price begins with Lovrik in the Black Bull tavern in Driftwood, on Reaper’s Coast. Ask him for something exotic, take the Suite Key upstairs, and decide whether to accept the encounter. Proceeding triggers a theft by Lohar’s people; your equipment can be recovered, but the route depends on your quest state. If you also want to expose Lovrik, speak with Wyvlia before completing The Missing Magisters.
Where to find Lovrik and start Love Has a Price
Go to the Black Bull tavern in Driftwood, Reaper’s Coast, and speak with Lovrik. Ask for something exotic or with more spice to begin the quest. You may be able to persuade him or pay, depending on your dialogue choices and character; walkthroughs report varying checks and prices, so there is no single cost to rely on.
Once Lovrik offers the encounter, choose the male, female, or surprise preference and take the Suite Key. The quest journal names the possible partners Zharat and Zharah. Only the character who intends to pay should go upstairs for the encounter.
Decline or spend the night?
| Choice | What happens |
|---|---|
| Decline | Gamepressure reports a reward of 3,000 XP. That character cannot return to take the offer, though another party member may still try. |
| Proceed | Gamepressure reports a reward of 6,000 XP. The character wakes without their equipment, which Lohar’s people have taken. |
The XP figures are reported by Gamepressure’s walkthrough, not independently tested. An older GameFAQs walkthrough suggests taking the refusal reward with one character and then sending another upstairs; treat that as an optional strategy rather than a required route.

How to recover your equipment
After the character wakes, Lohar’s crew has taken their belongings. You can confront the group, and Gamepressure’s guide says the stolen items are in a backpack on a table. If you spare the crew, speak with Lohar instead; what he offers depends on the quest’s state.
If Shadow Over Driftwood is not in your journal
Lohar may offer to return the belongings in exchange for finding Mordus. This gives you a dialogue route to recover your gear rather than taking it from the crew’s backpack.

If Shadow Over Driftwood is already in your journal
Gamepressure says stealing the belongings is the available recovery route in this state. Look for the backpack on the table after dealing with the crew.
Resolve Lovrik’s follow-up before The Missing Magisters
After the robbery, investigate Lovrik’s claim that he has a daughter named Livy. Ask Wyvlia in the tavern kitchen about it. Gamepressure warns that completing The Missing Magisters first prevents you from proving Lovrik’s guilt and removes another confrontation option. If you want that proof and confrontation branch, speak with Wyvlia before finishing the magisters quest.
Optional encounter tactics
An older GameFAQs walkthrough lists the ambushers as two Hired Mages, two Hired Assassins, a Hired Marksman, and Gill Thunders. It reports 4,000 XP for each mercenary and none for Gill. Those details come from a user guide and are not necessary to recover your equipment.
The same walkthrough recommends leaving a robust character downstairs so companions can be sent upstairs if a fight begins. That is an optional tactic, not a prerequisite. If you play as the Red Prince, the encounter may also include a brief vision of the Red Princess, as noted in the Guides4Gamers quest stages.
