Marvel Rivals’ official currency descriptions identify three core balances: Lattice for premium purchases and exchanges, Units mainly for Store cosmetics, and Chrono Tokens for Battle Pass rewards. You can earn some Units and Chrono Tokens through play, while Lattice is primarily purchased. The details below reflect official descriptions and season-end rules published in December 2024; seasonal systems may have changed since then.

These categories come from NetEase’s December 5, 2024 monetization post and the Epic Games Store guide. The available official material does not establish a complete inventory of every currency that may be active in October 2026, so this is a guide to the three documented core currencies, not a guarantee that no limited-time currency exists.

What each currency does
Lattice: the premium balance
Think of Lattice as the flexible premium balance. NetEase described direct purchase as its primary acquisition method and also said Lattice would be distributed through the Battle Pass. The official December 5, 2024 post specifies a 1:1 exchange from Lattice to Units. The Epic Games Store guide also says Lattice can top up Chrono Tokens.
To spend it, check the live in-game Store or exchange screen and confirm the target balance before accepting. The purchase examples in NetEase’s launch-era post were based on Steam’s U.S. region and are dated; they should not be treated as current prices or universal regional pricing.

Units: mainly for Store cosmetics
Units are the balance to look for when buying cosmetics from the Store. NetEase said players could earn limited quantities through the Battle Pass, Achievements, and Events, as well as exchange Lattice for Units at 1:1. The official wording does not promise a fixed amount or permanent reward schedule, so check the current reward screen rather than assuming a particular activity grants a set number.
Chrono Tokens: Battle Pass reward currency
Chrono Tokens redeem seasonal Battle Pass rewards. The Epic guide lists mission objectives and event tasks as earning routes and says they can be topped up with Lattice. NetEase also described tokens as earned through tasks and events. Their season-end treatment depends on the token’s source and, in the documented rules, whether the player owns the Luxury Battle Pass.

How to use or exchange the balances
- For Store cosmetics: open the in-game Store and check whether the item is priced in Units or Lattice before confirming the purchase.
- To exchange Lattice for Units: use the in-game exchange option and confirm the displayed conversion. NetEase’s December 2024 stated ratio is 1:1.
- For Battle Pass rewards: open the relevant Battle Pass reward track and redeem eligible items with Chrono Tokens.
- To top up Chrono Tokens: consult the in-game Battle Pass or token purchase screen for the current exchange terms; the Epic Games Store guide describes topping them up with Lattice.
- Before a season ends: read the current settlement notice and redeem rewards you want. The documented December 2024 rules distinguish bought tokens from other unused tokens.
There is no documented way in these sources to exchange Chrono Tokens back into Lattice. The named conversion direction is Lattice to Units, while Lattice may be used to top up Chrono Tokens.
What happens to Chrono Tokens at season end?
NetEase’s December 24, 2024 Battle Pass settlement clarification described different treatment for leftover tokens. Treat this as the policy documented at that time, not an assurance that every later season uses the same settlement: check the current in-game notice.

- Redemption: Online
- For Luxury Battle Pass owners, leftover tokens are automatically applied to eligible unredeemed rewards in the default sequence, as far as the balance allows.
- After that automatic redemption, ordinary Chrono Tokens left over are cleared.
- If you bought Chrono Tokens with Lattice during that season, some unused tokens can carry over. The retained amount is the lesser of the remaining balance after automatic redemption and the number of tokens bought with Lattice that season.
- Tokens included as a bonus with the upgraded Luxury Battle Pass do not count as tokens bought with Lattice for this carryover rule.
NetEase’s examples illustrate the cap: spending 1,000 Lattice for 1,000 Chrono Tokens and having 500 left after automatic redemption would retain all 500; having 1,500 left would retain 1,000. These are examples from the December 2024 clarification, not a forecast of current-season rewards.
Older Luxury Battle Passes
In the same clarification, NetEase said an unfinished Luxury Battle Pass remains accessible in later seasons. To keep unlocking rewards on an older pass, players must obtain Chrono Tokens anew. The post also said a prior season’s Luxury Battle Pass could not be purchased after that season ended.

What the official monetization description says
In its December 5, 2024 monetization post, the Marvel Rivals team said: “We will be charging for cosmetics that will provide only visual changes, with no stat bonuses or pay-to-win elements.” The same post said the game is free to download and that heroes, maps, and other gameplay elements are free. This is the team’s published description from 2024; consult current game information for later changes.
Are there other Marvel Rivals currencies?
Other currency names appear in community search results, but the official material cited here does not verify that names such as Unstable Molecules, Costume Coins, or Accessory Points are active now, or establish their current uses. Because event and seasonal systems can change, do not assume an unfamiliar balance is a permanent core currency: read its in-game description and the current event or patch notice before spending it.
