Marvel Rivals Season 2.5 launched on May 30, 2025. It added Ultron as a playable Strategist and Hellfire Gala: Arakko, a Convoy map. Those features had appeared in leak reports before NetEase confirmed them in its May 22 announcement and May 23 patch notes. Season 2.5 is now part of the game’s history: NetEase referred to Season 9.5 in an August 2026 announcement.
When did Marvel Rivals Season 2.5 come out?
Season 2.5 launched May 30, 2025. NetEase announced the date in Dev Vision Vol. 6 on May 22. The official patch notes, published May 23, list event availability beginning May 30 at 09:00 UTC.
This is a retrospective, not a preview of an upcoming update. Official Season 3 patch notes put that season’s start on July 11, 2025, and NetEase’s August 2026 Gamescom announcement refers to Season 9.5.
Who was the new hero?
Ultron joined as a Strategist
Ultron became a playable hero with Season 2.5. NetEase’s May 22 announcement identified him as a Strategist. That official confirmation is more reliable than pre-release ability descriptions circulated in leak coverage; the sources cited here do not verify every leaked ability detail.

What was the new Arakko map?
Hellfire Gala: Arakko is a Convoy map
The patch notes name the map Hellfire Gala: Arakko and classify it as Convoy. The season story describes Arakko as Krakoa’s sister island, transformed by Ultron into a mechanical stronghold. The map’s name and mode were specified in the official patch notes, rather than left as leak-only predictions.
Were the Season 2.5 leaks true?
Several central predictions were ultimately confirmed, but the original reports and the developer’s confirmation should not be treated as equivalent evidence.

So the date, hero, and map predictions proved accurate in their main points. The reports remain evidence of what was being claimed at the time; NetEase’s announcement and patch notes establish what actually shipped.

Team-Up changes
In Dev Vision Vol. 6, Marvel Rivals said it added six Team-Up Abilities, removed four, and adjusted one. The developers described the cumulative amount as “over 50% revamped since Season 0.” That figure refers specifically to Team-Up abilities relative to the Season 0 baseline, not to all game content or balance changes.

The patch notes also list the Cerebro Database II event, Twitch Drops, the Mood and Emoji systems, a team-lobby Recommendation feature, and a PC Performance Test feature. Completing the Cerebro Database II event awarded the Hawkeye – Binary Arrow costume for free; that event ran from May 30 to June 27, 2025 at 09:00 UTC.
