Marvel Rivals’ Season 2 launch patch was Version 20250411, released April 11, 2025. The Hellfire Gala update added Emma Frost and the Hellfire Gala: Krakoa map, adjusted heroes and Team-Ups, changed ranked rules and map rotation, and brought new missions, platform settings, and fixes. This is a guide to that launch patch—not the later updates released during Season 2.
What was in the Season 2 launch patch?
NetEase called Season 2 Hellfire Gala. Its April 11, 2025 launch update was broader than a hero-balance pass: it paired gameplay adjustments with a new hero and map, seasonal progression, competitive changes, and technical updates. The official Version 20250411 patch notes were published April 8 and announced maintenance beginning at 2:00 AM PDT on April 11, expected to last about two to three hours.
NetEase described Season 2 as a three-month season, with Emma Frost in its first half and Ultron planned for its second half, alongside two new maps over the season. The publisher also said seasons would move to a two-month schedule beginning with Season 3. Those are season plans announced in April 2025, not a description of the current game schedule.
New content and progression
- Emma Frost joined the roster.
- Hellfire Gala: Krakoa was added as a Domination map and entered Competitive rotation.
- A new Battle Pass with ten costume sets and season events arrived.
- Weekly missions were added. The notes said the overall Chrono Token distribution would be maintained while reducing the proportion of hero-specific missions.
Which heroes were buffed or nerfed?
Balance changes covered Vanguard, Duelist, and Strategist heroes, touching health, damage, cooldowns, movement, ultimate abilities, and utility. “Buff” or “nerf” alone can be misleading: several heroes gained strength in one area while losing it in another. The examples below show the direction and exact values for selected changes; the official Season 2 balance post contains the full hero-by-hero list.

Vanguard examples
- Hulk: base movement speed increased from 600 to 650; Indestructible Guard’s cooldown decreased from 12 to 10 seconds; Incredible Leap’s minimum charge time decreased from 0.7 to 0.5 seconds.
- Peni Parker: base health increased from 650 to 750; Cyber-Web Cluster’s firing movement penalty decreased from 40% to 20%.

Duelist examples
- Hawkeye: Hypersonic Arrow damage increased from 50 to 55 for each of its two damage instances; Hunter’s Sight energy cost decreased from 3,700 to 3,100.
- Scarlet Witch: Mystic Projection’s cooldown increased from 8 to 10 seconds, and her Phased state duration decreased from 2 to 1.5 seconds. Some of her damage was increased, making this a mixed adjustment rather than a straightforward nerf.
Strategist example
- Rocket Raccoon: Repair Mode healing changed from 70 health per second to 50 health per second plus a one-time 55 healing on hit. Jetpack Dash’s cooldown increased from 6 to 10 seconds, and its distance decreased from 10 to 8 meters.
What changed about Team-Ups?
The update added Arcane Order, a Team-Up for Doctor Strange and Scarlet Witch. Doctor Strange, its Anchor, receives 100 additional maximum health; Scarlet Witch gains Mystic Burst. Other existing pairings also changed, including removed abilities and a revised Gamma Charge pairing.
| Team-Up or hero | Season 2 change |
|---|---|
| Arcane Order: Doctor Strange and Scarlet Witch | Added. Doctor Strange receives 100 additional maximum health as Anchor; Scarlet Witch gains Mystic Burst. |
| Winter Soldier: Ammo Overload | Winter Soldier loses Infinite Grit. |

| Psylocke: Dimensional Shortcut | Psylocke loses Psionic Disc. |
| Gamma Charge: Hulk, Namor, and Doctor Strange | Pairing changes so Namor gains Gamma Monstro and Doctor Strange loses Gamma Maelstrom. |
How did the patch change ranked play and maps?
- Competitive map pool: Hellfire Gala: Krakoa joined the rotation; Yggsgard: Royal Palace and Tokyo 2099: Shin-Shibuya left it.
- Other modes: Quick Match and Custom Game continued to include all maps.
- Rank reset: ranks were demoted by nine divisions.
- Pick/ban: the feature began at Gold III rather than Diamond.
- Match scoring: individual performance received greater weight.
- High-rank party rules: the notes introduced solo/duo restrictions for teams containing Eternity or One Above All players.
What platform changes and fixes were included?
The patch also addressed platform-specific settings and technical issues, so it was not limited to content and balance.
Rank #2
- PC: notes introduced experimental shader compilation behavior and AMD FSR 4 support for Radeon RX 9000 series cards.
- Console: new sensitivity and deadzone controls were added.
- Bug fixes: the notes covered general, map, hero, PC, and console issues. Examples include a fix for Captain America’s shield ricochet while moving backward and a rare issue that reset settings.
How to read the balance changes
For a practical comparison, look at the ability and its numbers rather than relying on a single buff/nerf label. A shorter cooldown can make an ability available more often; a health increase can improve survivability; and a damage increase may arrive alongside reduced mobility or a longer cooldown. Rocket Raccoon’s changed healing is a good example of why mechanics matter: the update replaced a single per-second value with a lower ongoing rate plus a separate on-hit amount.
For the complete patch record, use the launch patch notes for ranked, maps, missions, platform changes, and fixes, and the balance post for the full hero and Team-Up adjustments. NetEase’s Season 2 announcement provides the season-level launch context.
