Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →The available official information does not establish a complete current Vanguard roster, so it would be misleading to call any list here “every” Vanguard. Marvel Rivals’ official July 6, 2026 balance post does name several Vanguards and documents major role-wide changes, but it is a dated patch snapshot—not a full roster or a guarantee of today’s values. Use the live in-game Vanguard filter to confirm the current lineup; the practical guidance below explains what the verified patch information can and cannot tell you.
What the Vanguard role asks you to do
Vanguard is the frontline role, but it is not one uniform tank formula. The July 2026 official balance post covers heroes whose survivability and team value work differently: some changes involve shields, others health, damage reduction, or ally protection. In practical terms, a Vanguard should help the team take or keep useful space, disrupt opponents, or protect allies. The right approach depends on the hero’s live kit, so do not assume every Vanguard should stand still and absorb damage.
To confirm the full current roster and each hero’s abilities, check the in-game Vanguard filter and hero details. The official Marvel Rivals hero page is useful for platform and access information, but the page information available here does not provide a complete readable roster or detailed ability text.
How the July 2026 changes affect frontline play
Marvel Rivals published its Version 20260710 Balance Post on July 6, 2026. Its numbers are specific to that update; check the live game and later patch notes before relying on them as current values.

Regenerative Shields reward disengaging from damage
The post introduced Regenerative Shields. They begin recovering after five seconds without taking damage and recover their chargeable shield points over the following five seconds. The post gives examples of a 300-point pool recovering at 60 points per second and a 150-point pool at 30 points per second. For affected heroes, this makes breaking line of sight and letting damage stop part of managing durability; continuing to trade hits can delay recovery.
Ultimate energy from damage was reduced
The same update lowered Vanguard and Duelist damage-to-ultimate-energy conversion from 70% to 55%. This is a dated global change from that post, not a current-value guarantee. It also means that dealing damage alone became a less efficient route to ultimate charge in that update; do not treat frontline pressure as a substitute for playing objectives or using the rest of a hero’s kit.

Vanguards named in the July 2026 balance post
The following are the Vanguards specifically named in that update’s adjustment sections. This is a patch-note subset, not a confirmed complete roster. The changes describe durability or tuning—not enough ability detail to prescribe a full hero-specific playstyle. Read each hero’s current in-game kit before applying advice about engagements, cooldowns, or team combinations.
| Hero | What the July 6, 2026 post changed | Practical implication |
|---|---|---|
| Angela | Base Health changed from 450 to 350, with 200 Regenerative Shield added; the Team-Up Anchor’s 100 Bonus Health was removed. | Her health pool was reworked around a regenerating shield. When that shield is depleted, avoiding further damage long enough to trigger recovery matters; verify the current kit for how she creates space and supports teammates. |
| Captain America | Base Health changed from 600 to 300, with 300 Regenerative Shield added. The post says total health with the removed Team-Up Anchor benefit fell from 700 to 600. | The update shifted part of his durability into a regenerating shield and removed a team-up bonus. Use the live kit and team-up rules to judge how aggressively to hold a position. |
| Deadpool (Vanguard) | Base Health increased from 450 to 500; the post also adjusted Vanguard Dual Desert Eagles damage and ally damage reduction. | The post documents both personal durability and ally-protection tuning. It does not supply enough detail here to identify ideal timing or positioning; check the current ability descriptions. |
| Devil Dinosaur | Base Health increased from 750 to 850; Prehistoric Plating’s critical-hit damage reduction increased from 50% to 60%. | The update strengthened health and a specific defensive mechanic. Do not assume that protection applies to all incoming damage; consult the current description for its exact scope. |
| Doctor Strange | Base Health increased from 575 to 650; Shield of the Seraphim increased from 700 to 850. The post also described an additional team-up condition. | The change increased both listed health and shield values. How to protect teammates with the shield depends on its live behavior and the current team-up condition. |
| Groot | Base Health increased from 700 to 850. | The post records a health increase but does not establish his full current kit or how to place his abilities. Use cover and ability descriptions to decide when to anchor versus advance. |
| Hulk | Base Health changed from 650 to 400, with 300 Regenerative Shield added; Heavy Blow damage increased from 40 to 45. | The update moved durability into a regenerating shield while increasing one listed attack’s damage. A pause in incoming damage can help the shield recover; check the live ability text before planning an engage around Heavy Blow. |
| Rogue | Defensive Stance damage reduction changed from 60% to 55%; the post also adjusted Southern Brawl and her health/shield pool. | One named defensive value was reduced, but the post’s other adjustments mean this figure alone cannot describe her overall durability. Check the current stance and pool values in game. |
| The Thing | Stone Haymaker’s Bonus Health cap increased from 100 to 150. | The change raised the cap for one named ability’s Bonus Health. It does not establish how quickly the ability generates that health or when to spend it; use the live description. |
| Thor | Base Health changed from 600 to 300, with 300 Regenerative Shield added; the post also increased Hammer Throw damage and hit Bonus Health. | The update shifted durability to a regenerating shield and adjusted a named attack. Break contact when possible to enable shield recovery, and verify current attack behavior before committing. |
| Venom | Base Health changed from 675 to 500, with 250 Regenerative Shield added; the Team-Up Anchor bonus was removed. | The update changed his durability mix and removed a team-up bonus. His current approach to engagement and disengagement should be based on the live kit, not the old health figure. |
| Peni Parker | The post removed a Team-Up Anchor bonus. It gives no broader kit overview in that section. | This is not enough information to describe her abilities or role in a fight. Check her current in-game kit and team-up details. |
How to choose a Vanguard without a current ranking
No current pick-rate or win-rate ranking is established by the sources available here. The official hero hot-list page at marvelrivals.com/m/heroes_data displays an update time of 2024/12/30, which is too old to support October 2026 meta claims. Instead of choosing from an unsupported tier list, compare the live heroes on these practical dimensions:
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors- Holding ground or starting an engagement: Decide whether you want to help your team maintain a position or create an opening to advance. Confirm how the hero’s current abilities support that job.
- Personal durability or ally protection: Some kits and the July patch changes involve personal health or shields; others have named effects that affect allies. Choose based on what your team needs and what you can use reliably.
- Close pressure or ranged control: Check the hero’s live attack range and ability descriptions rather than inferring them from health or patch-note changes.
- Cooldown dependence: Read the current ability tooltips and learn what your hero can still do when key abilities are unavailable. Avoid entering a fight on the assumption that a defensive tool will always be ready.
For any Vanguard, use cover to limit unnecessary incoming damage, keep a route back to safety, and coordinate an advance with teammates rather than moving into danger alone. These are general frontline habits, not a substitute for learning each hero’s exact kit.
