A solo developer says they are trying to turn Marvel’s Wolverine into an unofficial PC executable, with AI helping to write scripts and automate asset conversion. Tom’s Hardware reported on 5 October 2026 that the project remained a buggy experiment, not a confirmed PC port: shown material reportedly had missing textures, a headless character and freezes, and readers disputed whether the screenshots showed the claimed work.
What the reported PC project is—and isn’t
Tom’s Hardware attributes the effort to a developer using the Reddit handle u/Clean-Market5761. The report describes an attempt to make an executable for PC from material associated with the PS5 game. It is not an announcement or release from Sony or Insomniac, and the available reporting does not independently verify that the project works as claimed.
The distinction matters: “ported to PC” can sound like a finished, playable conversion. Here, it refers to an unofficial solo project in progress. Tom’s Hardware says skeptics questioned the screenshots and whether they might show an older leaked build. The article does not establish an independently reproduced build or settle that dispute. Tom’s Hardware’s 5 October 2026 report is the source for the developer’s claims and the reported reactions.
How AI reportedly fits into the work
According to the report, the developer used AI to assist with script creation and automated asset conversion, then relied on manual trial and error. That is a description of the developer’s reported workflow—not evidence that AI produced a complete port or resolved the technical work involved in making the game run.

What was reportedly broken
The shown project reportedly had missing textures, a missing character head and freezes. The developer attributed the hair-rendering problem to absent PS5 shader support. These are reported issues in the material covered by Tom’s Hardware, not results from an independent test of a reproducible PC build.
Why the project is linked to the Insomniac leak
Tom’s Hardware connects the effort to the 2023 ransomware attack on Sony and Insomniac, which exposed 1.7 TB of data, including an early version of Wolverine. The report says leaked source code helped the developer understand how to generate a PC executable. However, it does not independently establish exactly which files the developer used, so the precise provenance of the project remains unverified.

How this differs from PS5 emulation
The reported executable attempt and playing the game through a PS5 emulator are separate approaches. Tom’s Hardware reported on 30 September 2026 that gameplay in the KytyPS5 emulator ran at single-digit frame rates, describing it as an early compatibility milestone rather than a practical way to play the game. That report does not show that buying more powerful PC hardware fixes emulator compatibility.
| Approach | What the reporting says | What it does not establish |
|---|---|---|
| Unofficial PC executable project | A solo developer reportedly used AI-assisted scripting and automated asset conversion, alongside manual trial and error; the shown material had reported visual problems and freezes. | A stable, independently verified PC build or a confirmed official port. |
| PS5 emulation with KytyPS5 | A separate report described gameplay at single-digit frame rates and an early-stage compatibility milestone. | A practical, stable substitute for playing the PS5 version. |
The emulator details are from Tom’s Hardware’s 30 September 2026 report. It concerns KytyPS5 gameplay, not the developer’s claimed executable project.

What players can rely on
The project should be treated as an unverified experiment, not as an available PC release. The reports do not establish that the screenshots represent a working build, that the leaked materials used have been identified, or that the work has reached a playable state. For the official game, the direct product path described in the reporting is the PS5 edition; current retail availability was not verified.
