Pokémon GO does not directly connect to Samsung Health. On Android, the supported workaround is an indirect chain: Samsung Health → Health Connect → Google Fit → Pokémon GO Adventure Sync. Each link needs its own permission and may update at a different time, so Samsung Health steps can contribute to Pokémon GO distance without every displayed step being credited.
What Adventure Sync does
Adventure Sync lets Pokémon GO record activity while the game is closed or running in the background. Its distance can advance Egg hatching and Buddy Candy, and it can contribute to weekly fitness reports and milestone rewards. Niantic requires Trainer Level 5 or higher, location access, and a connected health platform on Android. See Niantic’s Adventure Sync requirements.
The actual Samsung-to-Pokémon GO data path
There is no documented native “Connect Samsung Health” button in Pokémon GO. The Android arrangement is:

Samsung Health supplies the activity, Health Connect shares it between Android apps, Google Fit is the fitness service Pokémon GO documents for Android, and Adventure Sync reads from that connection. Menu names can differ by Android, One UI, Samsung Health, Google Fit, and Pokémon GO versions.
What you need before setup
- An Android phone compatible with the current Pokémon GO app.
- Pokémon GO, Samsung Health, Health Connect, and Google Fit.
- An optional Galaxy Watch. A watch is not required; the phone can collect steps itself.
- Trainer Level 5 or above and location permission enabled for Pokémon GO.
- The same intended Google account selected in Google Fit and used when connecting Pokémon GO.
- Current versions of the apps, Galaxy Wearable if you use a watch, and Google Play system components.
First confirm that Samsung Health already shows current steps. If you use a watch, Samsung says it must synchronize with the phone through Galaxy Wearable: Samsung watch synchronization guidance. If your phone aggressively pauses apps, use Settings search for Battery, Background usage limits, or Never sleeping apps and remove restrictions for the apps in this chain where appropriate.

Set up the connection
1. Verify Samsung Health’s source
- Open Samsung Health.
- Check the Steps card and confirm new walking activity appears.
- For a Galaxy Watch, open Galaxy Wearable and synchronize it before continuing.
Do not troubleshoot Pokémon GO until Samsung Health itself is receiving the activity.
2. Let Samsung Health write to Health Connect
- Open Samsung Health.
- Tap Menu or More options, then Settings.
- Choose Health Connect.
- Allow Samsung Health to write Steps and, where offered, relevant exercise or distance data.
- Accept any separate consent request for processing health and wellness data.
If the in-app route is absent, open Android Settings, search for Health Connect, choose App permissions or Manage permissions, select Samsung Health, and enable the available step-writing permission. 3. Turn on Google Fit’s Health Connect sync
- Open Google Fit.
- Tap Profile, then Settings.
- Under Health Connect, enable Sync Fit with Health Connect.
- Open Manage data and access or Connected apps and allow Google Fit to read steps from Health Connect.
Google documents this setting at Google Fit and Health Connect. Google Fit may display data shared by other apps through Health Connect, but synchronization is not necessarily immediate.
4. Enable Adventure Sync
- Open Pokémon GO.
- Tap Main Menu, then Settings.
- Open General and tap Adventure Sync.
- Follow the prompt to connect Pokémon GO to Google Fit.
- Approve the requested activity permissions and keep Pokémon GO’s required location permission enabled.
Pokémon Support also recommends checking that Pokémon GO appears among Google Fit’s connected apps and devices: Pokémon GO Adventure Sync troubleshooting.

5. Test the complete chain
- Close Pokémon GO completely.
- Confirm Samsung Health is synchronized and shows your current steps.
- Walk for several minutes with the phone or connected watch.
- Wait for Samsung Health, Health Connect, and Google Fit to update.
- Reopen Pokémon GO and check Egg, Buddy, and Trainer progress.
Do not expect a precise one-to-one conversion from Samsung Health steps to Pokémon GO distance. Pokémon GO applies its own activity and distance calculations, and delayed updates are possible.
Find where the chain stops
- Samsung Health has no new steps: fix phone or Galaxy Watch collection first; check Bluetooth, Galaxy Wearable pairing, and synchronization.
- Samsung Health has steps but Health Connect does not: review Samsung Health’s Health Connect consent and step write permission.
- Health Connect has steps but Google Fit does not: recheck Google Fit → Profile → Settings → Health Connect → Sync Fit with Health Connect, then review Google Fit read permissions.
- Google Fit has activity but Pokémon GO has no progress: verify the same Google account, confirm Pokémon GO is a connected Google Fit app, and make sure Adventure Sync remains enabled.
- Updates appear only after opening apps: synchronize Galaxy Wearable, refresh Samsung Health, inspect Health Connect, refresh Google Fit, then reopen Pokémon GO. This can expose delayed background synchronization but is not an instant-sync guarantee.
- Nothing updates in the background: inspect Samsung’s battery and sleeping-app controls using Settings search and remove restrictions that suspend these apps.
Google notes that a sync can fail when an app lacks read or write access, does not support the data type, or requires synchronization to be started in that app’s own settings: Health Connect permissions and troubleshooting.

Avoid duplicate or inflated steps
Phone sensors, a Galaxy Watch, Samsung Health, Google Fit, and other fitness apps can all write step records. Health Connect applies source priority when records conflict, so totals shown in different apps may not match.
- Prefer Samsung Health or the Galaxy Watch as the primary source if that is your normal dashboard.
- Inspect Health Connect’s Steps data sources and establish one preferred writer.
- Avoid multiple third-party step-transfer apps unless you have a specific need.
- Do not assume the largest number displayed by any one app is the number Pokémon GO will credit.
Alternatives to the Samsung Health bridge

Manual entries in Samsung Health or Google Fit should not be treated as a dependable way to earn Adventure Sync credit. Activity appearing in a health app is not proof that Pokémon GO will accept it.
Permissions and privacy
This setup shares health data among Samsung Health, Health Connect, Google Fit, and Pokémon GO. Grant only the data types needed for the connection, and periodically review or revoke access in each app. Google explains connected-app controls at Google Fit permissions and disconnecting Google Fit apps.
Do not casually delete Health Connect or Google Fit history: Google warns that deleting Google Fit data written into Health Connect can remove records other apps can no longer read. Disable and re-enable Adventure Sync, or reconnect the Google Fit app, before considering a reinstall; first confirm your Pokémon GO login method and Google account.
