Mega Darkrai ex is a Pokémon Trading Card Game card—not evidence of a Mega Darkrai video-game transformation. It appears in the Mega Evolution—Pitch Black expansion, released July 17, 2026, and Pokémon also offered a digital version of its deck and related items in Pokémon TCG Live.
What is Mega Darkrai?
Mega Darkrai ex is a Pokémon TCG card announced for Mega Evolution—Pitch Black. Pokémon’s April 30, 2026 announcement gave the expansion a July 17, 2026 release date. It described an expansion of over 115 cards, including more than 20 Trainer cards and over 35 cards with special illustrations of Pokémon and Trainers. Those counts apply to the whole expansion, not just Darkrai.
The name can be confusing if you are looking for a video-game form. The official material cited here confirms Mega Darkrai ex in the TCG and TCG Live; it does not establish a Mega Darkrai transformation in a Pokémon video game. Pokémon’s general Mega Evolution overview describes the game mechanic as temporary and involving a Key Stone and Mega Stone, but that general explanation is not confirmation of a Mega Darkrai form.

Physical cards: Pitch Black booster products
The physical route is to look for Mega Evolution—Pitch Black booster products. Pokémon’s July 3, 2026 product showcase describes booster displays and booster bundles, and names Pokémon Center and other Pokémon TCG retailers as launch channels. A booster bundle contains six booster packs.

These are sealed products with randomized contents. Buying a booster pack, bundle, or display does not guarantee that it contains Mega Darkrai ex. The announcement identifies the card as part of the expansion, but does not give a Mega Darkrai-specific sales figure, current stock level, price, or odds of pulling it. Check the seller and product details for your region before buying.
Digital play: Pokémon TCG Live
For a digital version, Pokémon announced a Mega Darkrai ex deck and related digital items for Pokémon TCG Live. Its July 16, 2026 TCG Live announcement said players could receive the deck by logging in after the expansion became available, with other Mega Darkrai items tied to gameplay and rewards. These are in-game items, not physical cards or products.
