Both appear in Pokémon Legends: Z-A – Mega Dimension, and each uses a different Mega Stone. They have also appeared in separate, now-ended promotions for Pokémon Champions and Pokémon GO.
What are Mega Raichu X and Mega Raichu Y?
They are alternate Mega-Evolved forms of Raichu, not two names for the same form. The official Mega Dimension page lists both among the Pokémon players can encounter in the expansion and says each form uses a different Mega Stone.
The X and Y labels belong to the full names Mega Raichu X and Mega Raichu Y. They identify these forms; they do not mean the Pokémon are from the older games Pokémon X and Pokémon Y.
Which games feature the two forms?
Pokémon Legends: Z-A – Mega Dimension
The forms appear in Mega Dimension, downloadable story content that continues after the main story of Pokémon Legends: Z-A. The expansion launched on December 10, 2025. Its setting includes hyperspace distortions appearing around Lumiose City, and the official launch announcement lists both Mega Raichu forms among the new Mega-Evolved Pokémon players can meet. See The Pokémon Company’s launch announcement.

Pokémon Champions
A Pokémon HOME campaign connected to Pokémon Champions offered Raichu alongside Raichunite X and Raichunite Y. The campaign ran from June 17, 2026 at 02:00 UTC through September 2, 2026 at 01:59 UTC, so it has ended. During the campaign, players claimed the Pokémon and stones from the in-game mailbox; claimed items were available in both the Nintendo Switch and mobile versions of Champions. The campaign notice says Pokémon received through Mystery Gifts or elsewhere in Champions cannot be deposited in Pokémon HOME.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How are Mega Raichu X and Y different?
The verified distinction is their Mega Stones: the forms use different stones, identified in the Champions campaign as Raichunite X and Raichunite Y. The official pages cited here do not provide a stat comparison or a supported head-to-head battle analysis, so they do not establish which form is stronger or how their stats, abilities, moves, or competitive roles differ.
