On July 16, 2024, Xbox announced three upcoming games joining Game Pass at launch: Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn and Dungeons of Hinterberg on July 18, followed by Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess on July 19. The platform labels below describe the July 2024 announcement, not their current catalog status or subscription-plan eligibility.
The three July 2024 day-one releases
| Game | Launch date | Platforms listed by Xbox | Developer and publisher |
|---|---|---|---|
| Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn | July 18, 2024 | Cloud, PC, Xbox Series X|S | A44 Games / Kepler Interactive |
| Dungeons of Hinterberg | July 18, 2024 | Cloud, PC, Xbox Series X|S | Microbird / Curve Games |
| Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess | July 19, 2024 | Cloud, console, PC | Capcom |
Xbox announced all three as Game Pass day-one releases in its July 16, 2024 update. The titles were developed and published by external studios and companies; Microsoft’s role here was bringing them to Game Pass at launch.
What each game offers
Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn: action RPG combat
A44 Games, the studio behind Ashen, made this action RPG about Nor Vanek, a soldier in the Coalition fighting gods and undead forces. Its combat blends melee attacks, flintlock firearms, magic and help from Enki, a fox-like companion. Xbox described it as a “Souls-lite”—a broad comparison for its challenging action, not a claim that it is a direct Dark Souls clone. It launched July 18 on cloud, PC and Xbox Series X|S. Xbox also identified it as an Xbox Play Anywhere title in its weekly release listing. For players choosing by style, this is the most straightforward pick for combat-focused action and exploration.
Dungeons of Hinterberg: dungeons, puzzles and social life
Microbird and Curve Games set this colorful action-adventure in Hinterberg, a fictional tourist destination in the Austrian Alps. You play Luisa, a burnt-out law trainee who arrives hoping to become a skilled dungeon slayer. The game mixes dungeon combat and environmental puzzles with exploration, traversal and relationship-building; its activities include snowboarding, ziplines and magic across four distinct overworld regions. Xbox’s preview described its Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC and cloud platforms. It launched July 18. Its genre blend makes it the most varied option for players who want puzzles and social interaction alongside combat.

Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess: action with strategic defense
Capcom’s single-player game combines direct combat with preparation and strategy in a Japanese-inspired setting. During the day, players purify villages and prepare defenses; at night, they protect the Maiden from supernatural enemies called the Seethe. Xbox listed the July 19 release for cloud, console and PC, and its weekly release listing also identified it as an Xbox Play Anywhere title. Of the three, it is the hardest to reduce to a single genre label: expect both action and a recurring village-defense loop.
What “day one with Game Pass” means
“Day one” means eligible Game Pass subscribers could play a title through the service when it launched, rather than waiting for a later catalog addition. It does not mean every subscription plan included every platform. The 2024 announcement gave platform labels but does not establish today’s plan names, prices, eligibility rules or whether any of these games remain in the catalog. Catalog access can change, and cloud support alone does not guarantee identical performance, controls or compatibility on every device.

The platform wording also matters: Xbox named Series X|S specifically for Flintlock and Dungeons of Hinterberg, so the announcement does not support saying those releases were available on Xbox One. For Kunitsu-Gami, it said “console” without specifying a generation in that listing.
Other items in the July 16 update
The same Xbox update included two day-one games that were already available on July 16: Magical Delicacy and Flock. They are separate from the three upcoming releases highlighted here. The update also noted an EA Sports College Football 25 early-access trial through EA Play for eligible Game Pass Ultimate members, plus Ultimate Perks for Stumble Guys, The First Descendant and EA Sports UFC 4.

Three games were also leaving Game Pass on July 31
These departures were separate from the new day-one releases. Xbox said A Short Hike, Train Sim World 4 and Venba would leave the service on July 31, 2024. It advertised discounts of up to 20% for subscribers buying departing games before removal. That was a historical offer, not a current price or discount.
For current plan details, check Xbox’s Game Pass page; for a game’s present availability and platform support, confirm its current store listing. The July announcement establishes what Xbox said about launch-day access in 2024, not what subscribers can access now.
