It was immediately followed by a separate Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Direct, turning the broadcast into a two-part presentation.
Xbox described the showcase as the first in the format to feature games from Xbox Game Studios, Bethesda, Activision, Blizzard and third-party partners. The event is now an archived presentation, not an upcoming June 9 livestream.

What “returns on June 9” meant
The original announcement used “returns” for Xbox’s recurring annual summer showcase. It did not mean Xbox was reviving a permanently canceled event. The pattern continued with showcases on June 8, 2025, and June 7, 2026 (2025 announcement; 2026 announcement).
When and where it aired
The 2024 presentation began at:
- 10:00 a.m. Pacific
- 1:00 p.m. Eastern
- 6:00 p.m. British Summer Time
Xbox distributed the live broadcast through its official social and video channels. Viewers looking for it now should use the archived Xbox replay and the separate trailer and announcement videos published afterward. The original schedule and distribution information are in Xbox’s announcement: Xbox Games Showcase 2024 and [REDACTED] Direct.

The two-part broadcast
Xbox Games Showcase
The first segment was the broad platform presentation, combining Xbox-owned projects, Bethesda titles, newly integrated Activision and Blizzard properties, and games from outside partners.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Direct
The second segment was a dedicated Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Direct. Xbox initially concealed its identity as “[REDACTED] Direct,” then revealed the title. It was marketed as a companion presentation—a “double feature”—rather than as part of the general showcase’s game-by-game format.
The biggest announcements
Xbox and Bethesda projects
- Doom: The Dark Ages was revealed for 2025.
- Gears of War: E-Day was announced as a new mainline entry set before the original Gears of War.
- State of Decay 3 received a gameplay-focused presentation.
- Fable returned with a new trailer and a 2025 window at the time.
- Perfect Dark was shown with new gameplay footage.
- Avowed and South of Midnight received new material.
- Indiana Jones and the Great Circle and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 were featured.
- Age of Mythology: Retold, Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn and Mixtape also appeared.
Third-party and partner games
The lineup was not an all-first-party event. Partner appearances included Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Dragon Age: The Veilguard, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Atomfall, Winter Burrow, Life Is Strange: Double Exposure, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl, Mecha BREAK, Star Wars Outlaws, Diablo IV: Vessel of Hatred and The Elder Scrolls Online: Gold Road. Their appearance did not make them Microsoft-owned or automatically Xbox-exclusive.

A trailer, release window or showcase appearance is not, by itself, confirmation of a launch date, platform exclusivity or Game Pass inclusion. Flight Simulator 2024 is the explicit day-one Game Pass example in the cited recap; that status should not be generalized to every game shown.

Xbox said regional availability and estimated retail pricing would be provided when preorders opened. Prices and stock vary by market and date, so current buyers should check the official Xbox consoles page rather than rely on 2024 launch coverage.

The presentation demonstrated the breadth of Microsoft Gaming’s post-acquisition portfolio. Microsoft said this was the first Xbox showcase to bring together Xbox Game Studios, Bethesda, Activision, Blizzard and third-party partners. That breadth reflected portfolio integration after Microsoft completed its Activision Blizzard acquisition in October 2023, but it was not a promise that every Activision or Blizzard release would become Xbox-exclusive.

Optional ways to play the featured games
Game Pass is relevant for players planning to try several Xbox-published titles, but it was not required to watch the presentation. Current U.S. plans and feature limits are listed on the official Game Pass page and plan comparison page. Catalog size, pricing, renewal terms and availability vary by plan, platform and region.
