Midwest 90: Rapid City is a single-player diner-management and survival game set in a monster apocalypse. Hidden Chest Studios announced that it plans to launch the game in Steam Early Access on November 10, 2026, though Steam’s store page still listed the release date as “To be announced” on October 7, 2026.
What is Midwest 90: Rapid City?
Developed by Hidden Chest Studios and published by Rising Tide, Midwest 90: Rapid City is set in Rapid City, South Dakota, in 2034, with a 1990s aesthetic. Its central hook is a roadside diner in a monster apocalypse: the creatures threaten the business, but they can also become ingredients.
The planned gameplay blends restaurant management with survival. Players are expected to set menus and prices, manage staff and supplies, research and upgrade the business, and trap or harvest monsters for cooking. The diner must also be defended at night. The story includes choices that affect both the city and the business. These are developer-described features, not conclusions from a completed independent review.
When does Midwest 90: Rapid City come out?
In a Steam community announcement dated October 1, 2026, the developer announced November 10, 2026, as the planned Early Access date. However, the Steam store page displayed “To be announced” on October 7, 2026. The November date should therefore be understood as the developer’s announcement, not as a date currently confirmed in Steam’s release-date field. Check the Steam listing for the latest status.

What is planned for Early Access?
The October 1 announcement says the Early Access launch is planned to include Endless Mode, the Prologue, and Chapter 1. It also outlines later additions. The developer says Early Access buyers will receive the listed updates at no additional cost.

Is there a demo?
A demo is listed on Steam, and the developer’s itch.io page offers a downloadable build it describes as an alpha demo. The two pages may refer to different builds, so check the individual listing for the version and availability that apply.
The developer has also said that translations in the current demo are temporary and AI-assisted, and that it intends to use human translators after the game text is finalized. That is a stated plan, not confirmation of the final game’s localization status.
