The message reproduced by DigiStatement in 2023 says: “We could not sign you into your Microsoft Account. Access to Realms, Profiles, and your Minecraft items will be limited. Please try again later. Error Code: Obsidian.” That reported wording points to Microsoft account sign-in, but it does not establish whether the cause is the account, the game, the device, the network, or a service issue.

Minecraft Help’s named-error guide for Bedrock Edition gives Obsidian only that broad sign-in description and refers players to its general Bedrock troubleshooting guide. It does not say that the error means an account ban, a corrupted world, or a confirmed outage.

Close and reopen the game, then retry sign-in
Fully quit Minecraft, reopen it, and try signing in to the Microsoft account again. Restarting the device is another low-effort step suggested by The Nerd Stash’s August 2024 guide. These steps may clear a temporary problem, but no source establishes that they always resolve Obsidian.

Check for a Minecraft update
Install any available update for your edition and platform, then attempt sign-in again. Windows Report’s November 8, 2024 guide and The Nerd Stash’s August 27, 2024 guide both suggest updating the game; those are third-party recommendations, not a guaranteed fix.

Review remote sign-in settings only if they apply to your platform
Windows Report and The Nerd Stash mention enabling the setting labeled “Use remote to connect for Microsoft account sign-in.” The label and availability can vary by platform and game version, and Minecraft Help does not identify this as an official Obsidian-specific fix. If you cannot find the setting, do not change unrelated account or device settings to imitate instructions for another platform.

Leave network changes and reinstalling until later
The Nerd Stash’s 2024 article suggests restoring manually changed DNS settings to automatic and checking whether a VPN affects the connection. These are older, platform- and network-dependent workarounds, not current official instructions for Obsidian. Avoid changing router settings without a clear reason. Reinstalling is also suggested by Windows Report, but it is not a first step: check that worlds and other local data are backed up or synced before uninstalling.
When the error keeps returning
If the basic steps do not help, use the official Minecraft support route rather than assuming the account is banned or buying hardware. The Obsidian entry does not diagnose account status, network failure, or service availability. Provide support with your platform, game edition, the exact message, and the steps you already tried so they can investigate the sign-in problem in context.
