To make an Invisibility Potion in Minecraft, brew a Potion of Night Vision, then add a fermented spider eye to it in a brewing stand. The full recipe starts with a water bottle and nether wart; blaze powder fuels the stand.
What you need
- A brewing stand
- Blaze powder for fuel
- A water bottle
- Nether wart
- A golden carrot
- A fermented spider eye
Minecraft’s Ten Rare Recipes guide describes blaze powder as brewing-stand fuel and explains that fermented spider eyes can change a potion’s effect. The exact recipe sequence below is also shown in DigMinecraft’s Potion of Invisibility recipe.
How to brew an Invisibility Potion
- Place blaze powder in the brewing stand’s fuel slot.
- Put a water bottle in a lower bottle slot and nether wart in the ingredient slot. Brew it to make an Awkward Potion.
- Leave the Awkward Potion in a lower bottle slot and replace the ingredient with a golden carrot. Brew it to make a Potion of Night Vision.
- Put the Night Vision potion in a lower bottle slot and add a fermented spider eye in the ingredient slot. Brew it to make a Potion of Invisibility.
How to extend the potion’s duration
A historical brewing chart for Minecraft 1.13 lists the standard Invisibility Potion at 3:00 and the redstone-extended version at 8:00. To extend it in that recipe reference, add redstone to the brewed Invisibility Potion in the stand. These timings are specifically from the 1.13 chart, not a verified statement of current Java and Bedrock values; check the recipe behavior for your edition and version. Minecraft Gamepedia’s archived Brewing in Minecraft 1.13 chart gives those figures.
Why the fermented spider eye is added last
Do not add a fermented spider eye directly to a water bottle expecting to brew invisibility. In this recipe, it transforms an existing Potion of Night Vision into a Potion of Invisibility. Minecraft’s official guide says a fermented spider eye will usually flip a potion’s effect; for this recipe, the specific conversion is Night Vision to Invisibility.
