What kind of game is Minecraft Legends?
Mojang describes Minecraft Legends as an action-strategy game. A Piglin invasion threatens the Overworld, and you take the lead in rallying its inhabitants to push the invaders back. The hero can fight, but the central loop is to summon allies and direct them while exploring, gathering resources, defending villages, building structures, and attacking Piglin bases. Mojang’s game page and its April 18, 2023 launch article describe that intended play.

Read the scores as a prompt to consider fit, not as a substitute for the game’s design. A player who wants to command allied mobs may value its central idea; someone expecting direct, continuous combat or a familiar Minecraft building-and-survival loop may be looking for something else.

The defining choice is whether hero-led command appeals to you. You summon groups and lead them into fights, combining personal movement and combat with decisions about your allies. Exploration, gathering, and defense
The campaign combines travel across a generated Overworld with resource gathering, construction, village defense, and assaults on Piglin bases. These activities provide variety, but they also mean the game asks you to alternate between exploring and responding to threats rather than focusing only on battles. Consider whether that broader loop is appealing before choosing it for its Minecraft setting alone.
Solo, cooperative campaign, or PvP
The campaign can be played solo or cooperatively with up to three friends. Steam lists online co-op, online PvP, and cross-platform multiplayer. Those are distinct reasons to play: co-op supports progressing through the campaign together, while PvP is a separate competitive option. Steam also says a Microsoft Account is required for multiplayer, Marketplace use, and Lost Legends access on that store’s PC version. Is Minecraft Legends still getting updates?
No new content was planned after Mojang’s January 10, 2024 announcement. The company said it would release no further updates, Lost Legends, or Marketplace DLC. In the same development update, Mojang said technical support would continue and that existing features, including PvP and co-op, would remain functional. That is what Mojang announced; it is not an independent confirmation of current server uptime or service conditions.
For a prospective player, the practical distinction is that the game has existing campaign and multiplayer features, but should not be bought expecting a continuing stream of new official content. The final Lost Legend, “Snow vs Snouts,” was part of the January 2024 update.

Minecraft Legends launched on April 18, 2023. The official launch article listed Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and 5, Steam, Windows 10/11, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox Cloud Gaming. Its Game Pass references applied at launch and do not establish that the game is currently included in a subscription. Check the relevant platform’s store for present regional availability, subscription status, and price.
On Steam, the product page lists online co-op, online PvP, and cross-platform multiplayer, and states the Microsoft Account requirement for multiplayer, Marketplace, and Lost Legends access. Details can differ by platform, so check the specific store listing for the version you plan to use.
