Is Mounts of Mayhem out now?
Yes. Minecraft’s official update page presents Mounts of Mayhem as available and directs players to update Minecraft to the latest version. The announcement covered both Minecraft: Java Edition and Minecraft: Bedrock Edition.
Availability can depend on your device and edition. The official page notes that Bedrock Marketplace and an online connection may be relevant; check the requirements for your platform if you cannot access the update.
When did Mounts of Mayhem release?
Minecraft announced the release date as December 9, 2025. The date was announced on November 26, 2025, in Minecraft’s release-date announcement.

The announcement says the update releases on that date, but it does not specify a clock time or time zone. That means there is no supported exact launch hour to convert into a local time or use for a precise countdown.
What version is Mounts of Mayhem?
The official Java Edition release notes identify the update as Minecraft: Java Edition 1.21.11 — Mounts of Mayhem. Bedrock uses its own version numbering, so 1.21.11 should not be treated as the Bedrock version. What does the update add?
Mounts of Mayhem focuses on mounted combat and new threats. Minecraft’s announcement and Java release notes list these additions:
- Spear: A weapon available in wood, copper, iron, gold, diamond, and Netherite tiers. It has a jab and a charge attack; charge damage scales with movement speed, and the spear can use the Lunge enchantment.
- Nautilus and Zombie Nautilus: New aquatic mounts, with Nautilus Armor among the listed gear.
- Camel Husk and Parched: New desert-themed hostile mobs. Minecraft’s announcement gives the Camel Husk’s height as 2.375 blocks, excluding its two riders.
- Zombie Horses: They now spawn naturally.
- Netherite Horse Armor: Made by upgrading Diamond Horse Armor using a Smithing Table.

How to get the update
- Open Minecraft on the device and edition you play.
- Install the latest available game update for that platform.
- Check the edition-specific version information if you need to confirm the update, rather than relying on Java’s version number for Bedrock.
