What happened to Minecraft Realms?
The outage matches Mojang issue REALMS-12110, created August 13 and marked resolved August 24, 2024. The issue title described a player’s Realm being down for almost a week, but it should not be read as a measured duration that applied to every player.

Mojang Status described intermittent failures and slowdowns connecting to Realms. Subsequent updates reported service recovery, while qualifying that latency and access problems remained. The available record does not identify a definitive technical root cause or establish a precise, player-by-player outage duration.

The August 20 service update and August 24 tracker resolution record different milestones: one was a public status statement about restoration, the other the date the tracked issue was resolved. The release-note entry for Bedrock 1.21.21 documents a reliability improvement, but does not prove that the update alone ended the disruption.

What to check if you cannot connect to a Realm now
A connection problem affecting one player does not by itself show that Realms is down platform-wide. Check current official service information as well as your account and game setup. Minecraft Help’s Realms connection troubleshooting guide recommends these checks:
- Confirm the Realm is active and that the owner has not changed your access.
- Make sure your device is supported and Minecraft is up to date.
- Verify that the required Realms subscription is active. Console online play may also require an active Xbox Game Pass Core, Nintendo Switch Online, or PlayStation Plus subscription.
- Reset your Microsoft account sign-in, then restart Minecraft and your device.
- If you own the Realm, close it and reopen it.
- Check whether a service outage is affecting connections; account or subscription problems and service-side issues can produce similar symptoms.
These steps can help isolate an individual account, device, subscription, or Realm-access issue. They cannot repair a provider-side outage.
