On PC, Minecraft Standard Edition and the Minecraft Deluxe Collection both include the same core game, Minecraft: Java & Bedrock Edition. Deluxe is not a separate or higher tier of Minecraft. It is a bundle that adds extras, mainly Bedrock Marketplace content and Minecoins. Whether it is worth the extra cost depends on whether you will actually use those extras.
Why the names cause confusion
The question mixes two different kinds of difference. “Deluxe” describes a bundle of add-on content sold alongside the game. “Java” and “Bedrock” are two editions of the game itself. Standard and Deluxe on PC both contain Java and Bedrock, so choosing between them does not change which version of Minecraft you get. It only changes what else comes with it.
What each PC offer includes
The comparison below uses Mojang’s official PC product pages. Bundle contents and prices change, so treat the bonus items as a description of the offer type rather than a fixed inventory.
| Item | Minecraft: Java & Bedrock Edition for PC Standard Edition | Minecraft Deluxe Collection for PC |
|---|---|---|
| Minecraft: Java & Bedrock Edition (both versions on PC) | Included | Included |
| Extra Bedrock Marketplace content | Not listed as a bundle extra | Included as a bundle extra; specific items vary by listing |
| Minecoins | Not listed as a bundle extra | Included; the amount is not stated in the official pages reviewed |

What the Deluxe extras require
Deluxe’s extras are tied to Bedrock Edition and a Microsoft account. Mojang’s Deluxe Collection page states the following:

#1 Best Overall
- MINECRAFT TOY FOR KIDS – LEGO Minecraft Zombie Dungeon (21587) building toy for boys and girls ages 8 years old and up
- 5 LEGO FIGURES – Builders can cast a Wastelands Wanderer minifigure, a slime and 3 zombies (including one with enchanted leggings and gold sword and one with diamond helmet) in their pretend play adventure stories
- GAMING-INSPIRED FUNCTIONS – Set in the Minecraft desert biome, this zombie dungeon features a rotating, zombie-spawning chamber and a sliding piece that triggers a rockfall
- INSPIRE CREATIVE STORYTELLING – The Wastelands Wanderer, equipped with a diamond pickaxe, mace and netherite armor, takes on a slime and 3 zombies in the desert biome dungeon
- ACCESSORIES FOR PRETEND PLAY – Features netherite armor, a mace, diamond pickaxe, gold sword, diamond helmet, crafting table, torch and a chest containing bread, bone and rotten flesh
- Marketplace purchases and Minecoins are Bedrock features.
- Add-ons, Minecoins, and Character Creator items require a Microsoft account and Bedrock Edition.
- These items are not supported in Java Edition.
If you mainly play Java, the Deluxe extras will not be usable in that version.
Java vs. Bedrock: the difference that matters more
Because both editions come with the PC purchase, the more important decision is which one you play. The points below come from Mojang’s official comparison and platform overview.
Rank #2
- BUILD THE DREADED CREEPER – Young explorers, ages 10 and up, build a large poseable version of the iconic Minecraft mob
- MINECRAFT ACTION FIGURE – Kids construct every detail of the Creeper, from its 4 poseable legs to its detachable head
- HIDDEN SURPRISE INSIDE – Builders can remove the Creeper's head to reveal a compartment that hides a first-version Creeper minifigure and TNT element
- POSEABLE ROOM DECOR – After building, kids can put their creation on display in the bedroom or playroom
- GIFT IDEA FOR KIDS – Makes a wonderful birthday or any-time gift idea for boys and girls
Platforms and cross-play
Java runs on Windows, macOS, and Linux, with cross-play among those platforms. Bedrock cross-play covers Windows, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, and the mobile platforms Minecraft lists. Players generally need to be on the same edition as their friends to play together.
Mods and Marketplace
Java supports community-made mods. Bedrock supports Marketplace content such as add-ons, skin packs, and maps. These two ecosystems do not overlap, which is why a Bedrock-only bundle benefit does nothing for a Java player.

Split-screen and online features
Minecraft’s comparison lists split-screen as a console feature for Bedrock. Online multiplayer on featured servers may require a separately sold subscription, and requirements can depend on the platform. Neither Standard nor Deluxe is described as covering that subscription, so check it separately if you plan to use featured servers.

Which one to choose
- Choose Standard if you want the core game on PC and do not expect to use Marketplace items or Minecoins.
- Choose Deluxe if you will play Bedrock and want the bundle’s Marketplace extras. Compare the live contents and your regional price against what you would pay for the same items separately.
- Choose by edition first. Pick the edition your friends play before you consider any bundle extra, since cross-play runs within each edition.
- Confirm the platform. Make sure the listing is the PC offer you want. Names and bundle contents on Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch storefronts are not interchangeable with the PC versions.
Before you buy
- Open the live Minecraft store listing for your region and platform. Prices and included items are not fixed.
- Confirm you have a Microsoft account if you plan to use Deluxe’s Marketplace items or Minecoins.
