You can no longer earn Minecraft’s Yearn Cape through its original event: the A Minecraft Movie Live Event ran from March 25 to April 14, 2025, and that earning window has closed. Minecraft’s announcement does not give an alternate way to obtain it.
How players earned the Yearn Cape
The Yearn Cape was the reward for completing six challenges in Minecraft’s A Minecraft Movie Live Event. The event ran from March 25, 2025, at 2:30 p.m. PT through April 14, 2025, at 2 p.m. PT. Minecraft said players could claim the reward after the event. Minecraft’s event announcement describes the cape as featuring mineshaft art inspired by Steve’s longing for the mines.
To participate, players needed internet access, a valid Microsoft account, and Minecraft: Bedrock Edition. The event was entered through Bedrock; Java Edition alone was not an eligible way to join.
Does the Yearn Cape work in Java Edition?
Yes. Minecraft said that once the challenges were achieved, the cape would appear on the player’s account in both Bedrock and Java Edition, provided the same account was used for both. Java compatibility did not remove the Bedrock requirement for taking part in the event.
