Mini Nerdle is still available, and you usually do not need to enable it. Open the official six-character game directly at nerdlegame.com/games/mini-nerdle.html. Some versions of the Nerdle interface still show a Mini Nerdle switch in Settings, but the game selector or direct page is the more reliable route.
Open Mini Nerdle now
To start the current daily Mini Nerdle puzzle in a browser:
- Open https://www.nerdlegame.com/games/mini-nerdle.html.
- Select Play now if a landing page appears.
- Enter an equation with the on-screen keypad or your keyboard.
- Submit the guess and use the colored tiles to plan the next one.
Nerdle games run in a browser without a download or account requirement. If you already have classic Nerdle open, use the site’s home or game-selection control and choose Mini Nerdle. The official Android listing describes the home icon as the route to a page where you choose among Nerdle games: Google Play listing.

Older versions of the site used a Settings toggle. It may still appear on some devices or interfaces, but it is not a universal requirement today.

- Open the Settings icon, usually near the top-right of the board.
- Turn on the Mini Nerdle option.
- Let the page reload.
- Check that the new board has six spaces, not eight.
This interface-dependent path is documented in earlier guidance at NerdsChalk. If the switch is absent, do not change your device clock or keep searching through menus: use the direct Mini Nerdle URL instead.
What Mini Nerdle is
Mini Nerdle is the compact daily version of Nerdle. The official game page describes a six-character equation puzzle with up to six guesses. It has its own daily challenge, separate from classic Nerdle, so solving one mode does not consume the other mode’s puzzle.
- Board length: six characters, counting every digit, operator and the equals sign.
- Attempts: up to six guesses.
- Objective: find the hidden mathematically correct equation.
- New puzzle: one daily Mini Nerdle challenge.
- Feedback: green, purple and grey tiles.
Classic Nerdle uses eight characters; the comparison is explained in the official Classic Nerdle FAQ.

Equation rules
Every submitted row must be a legal six-character equation, not merely a string of likely symbols. The published rules allow digits 0–9, operators +, –, * and /, plus =. Your equation must:
- contain exactly one equals sign;
- put a number, rather than another calculation, on the right side of
=; - be mathematically correct;
- fit exactly six characters; and
- follow normal order of operations, with multiplication and division before addition and subtraction.
For example, 3+8=11, 9*4=36 and 12-3=9 each contain six characters and are valid forms to submit when they fit the puzzle’s feedback. Spaces and unsupported symbols are not part of the equation.
Promotional text sometimes shows 12+3=15 as a Mini example, but that expression has seven characters. Count the complete row before submitting.

Reading the color feedback
| Color | Meaning | How to respond |
|---|---|---|
| Green | The character is correct and in the correct position. | Keep that character fixed there. |
| Purple | The character appears in the solution but is in the wrong position. | Move it to a position not yet ruled out. |
| Grey | The character is not in the solution. | Remove it from later guesses, subject to duplicate-character feedback. |
Mini Nerdle uses purple for a present-but-misplaced character, rather than Wordle’s more familiar yellow. Duplicate characters are counted: if you enter a digit twice but the answer contains it once, one tile can receive positive feedback while the other is grey. A practical solving method
1. Make the first row informative
Use a legal six-character equation that tests several different digits and at least one operator. The following are examples, not proven optimal openers:
3+8=11tests addition and repeated 1s.9*4=36tests multiplication and a two-digit result.12-3=9tests subtraction with a two-digit left side.
Do not treat any opener as mathematically best unless it has been evaluated against the complete Mini Nerdle solution set.

2. Anchor the equals sign
The equals sign divides a very short row. Once its position is green or otherwise constrained, count how many characters remain on each side. That immediately limits the possible answer length and operator patterns.
3. Separate operator and digit testing
- Use early guesses to establish whether
+,-,*or/is present. - Eliminate grey digits and symbols.
- Move purple characters into positions that have not been tested.
- Check the complete equation on paper or a calculator before spending a guess.
- Apply multiplication and division before addition and subtraction when evaluating mixed operations.
4. Verify the row before submitting
A row can match the known colors and still be rejected if it has seven characters, two equals signs, an invalid right side or incorrect arithmetic. Count every character and recalculate the result first.

By default, the daily game changes at midnight GMT. The official FAQ displays that as 7 p.m. Eastern and 4 p.m. Pacific for North America; those are the site’s stated equivalents, not a universal local-time rule. Settings can change the reset to midnight in your own time zone. See the official FAQ for the reset setting and other game rules.

Mini Nerdle and classic Nerdle have separate daily challenges. Completing classic does not use up Mini, and vice versa.
Troubleshooting
Mini Nerdle is missing
- Open the direct page: https://www.nerdlegame.com/games/mini-nerdle.html.
- Return to nerdlegame.com and use the home or game selector to choose Mini Nerdle.
- Check Settings for a Mini Nerdle toggle if your interface provides one.
- Reload the page, or try a private/incognito window if an old tab is stuck.
The board has eight spaces
That is classic Nerdle. Choose Mini Nerdle from the selector or open the direct Mini page and confirm that the row contains six spaces.
My equation is rejected
- Count exactly six characters.
- Use one, and only one,
=. - Make the right side a number.
- Recalculate the equation using normal order of operations.
- Use only the supported digits and operators.
- Remove spaces and unsupported symbols.
- Check division: the displayed result must be exact rather than an unintended fraction or decimal.
The daily puzzle has not changed
You may be checking before the midnight-GMT reset, viewing a cached page, using the local-time reset option, or looking at a dated replay rather than the current game. The official FAQ says previous games can be opened by appending a date to the Nerdle URL, such as nerdlegame.com/20220131. A dated URL is a replay, not evidence that the current daily puzzle failed to update.

Playing on a phone
The browser version works on a phone. Official listings also exist for iOS at the App Store and Android at Google Play. The Android listing describes the app as a progressive web app with a home screen for selecting modes. Store availability, navigation labels and advertising can change by platform and over time.
Which Nerdle mode should you choose?

The official app also lists modes including Bi Nerdle, Mini Bi Nerdle, Speed Nerdle, Instant Nerdle, Pro Nerdle, Cross Nerdle, Shuffle and Nanagrams. The exact set can differ between the website and app, so use the current game selector rather than assuming every mode is available on every device.
Browser or app?
For occasional Mini games, the direct browser page is the simplest option: it avoids installation and opens the exact mode immediately. The official app is useful if you want a home-screen icon and access to several modes in one place. The iOS listing showed the app as free at the time of the cited listing; the Android listing marked it as containing ads. Pricing, ads and features can change, so check the current store pages before installing.
