WZStats lists builds alongside its weapons, but the available evidence does not provide comparable current damage, time-to-kill, ammo-use, or handling measurements. A rank is therefore not proof that one gun will outperform another in every MWZ encounter.

Use the ranking as a shortlist, then match a weapon and build to the demands of your run. These are evaluation criteria, not measured claims about how one listed weapon performs better than another.

- Horde control: Consider how comfortably you can keep damage on a group and manage enemies approaching from several directions.
- Elite encounters: Think about your role against tougher targets and whether the weapon’s setup suits that job.
- Ammo and reloads: Sustained fire can be useful, but reload timing and ammunition demands matter when a horde is closing in.
- Mobility: A weapon that feels manageable while repositioning may suit a run where escape routes and movement matter.
- Setup dependence: Check whether the build relies on a particular attachment, conversion kit, or Pack-a-Punch setup; a ranking alone does not establish how much that setup changes performance.
MWZ is PvE, and a Windows Central reviewer has described some content as harder solo. That is reviewer context, not an official difficulty rule; it is still a useful reason to weigh forgiveness and ease of repositioning differently for solo and squad play.
Why weapon rankings can change
Balance updates and bug fixes can affect how a weapon or ammunition effect behaves. Activision’s Season 4 patch notes provide historical examples: they include a Zombies fix involving the DM56 JAK Signal Burst Conversion Kit and a fix for an exploit that let Dead Wire deal excess damage to Elite enemies. Those 2024 notes show that behavior can be adjusted; they do not verify that the 2026 list remains unchanged after every intervening update.

The same notes say, “Weapons converted from burst-fire to full-auto now display an accurate Fire Rate in the Detailed Stats modal.” That is a user-interface correction, not evidence that a particular weapon is stronger. For current choices, check for later balance changes and reassess after major updates rather than treating any ranking as permanent.
Weapon progression and camos in MWIII
Activision’s MWIII weapons and camo guide confirms that Zombies participates in MWIII weapon progression and camo systems. It also states that base camos from either game can be applied to any weapon in MWIII. This is progression context, not a reason to assume a weapon ranks higher in combat.

What this ranking does—and does not—tell you
