Where is Mohg, Lord of Blood?
Mohg, Lord of Blood, is the boss at the end of Mohgwyn Palace. The name can be confusing: Mohg, the Omen is a different boss found in the Subterranean Shunning-Grounds. Defeating the Omen is not the same as defeating the Lord of Blood for the Shadow of the Erdtree entry requirement.
How do you get to Mohgwyn Palace?
There are two documented ways to reach the palace: Varré’s quest route, which grants a medal for direct travel, or a Sending Gate in the Consecrated Snowfield. Bandai Namco confirms both options in its Shadow of the Erdtree access guide; it does not claim that either route is faster.

What should you watch for in the fight?
Mohg opens with broad, delayed trident attacks and uses bloodflame abilities. The delay matters: reacting as soon as he begins a swing can leave you moving too early, while his wide reach makes the arena’s limited space relevant. A guide reference describes the arena as a fairly small chapel, so avoid letting the fight’s movement leave you boxed in.
Bloodflame and ground hazards
Bloodboon can leave ignited patches on the ground. Bloodflame Talons combines an attack with a subsequent explosion. The listed bloodflame moves can cause both fire damage and blood loss, so watch where the flames land and move out of burning areas rather than lingering in them.

Mohg’s Shackle is optional
Mohg’s Shackle can briefly stun him and create a short opening to attack. It is a useful interruption, not a required item or a guaranteed way to win. The available references do not establish a recommended character level, best build, equipment checklist, or ranked elemental weakness, so this guide does not prescribe one.
What do you get for defeating Mohg?
A boss reference lists 420,000 runes, Mohg’s Great Rune, and the Remembrance of the Blood Lord as rewards. The rune amount is a guide-reference value, not a guarantee for every situation.

Does defeating Mohg unlock Shadow of the Erdtree?
Defeating Mohg, Lord of Blood is one of the two prerequisites to enter Shadow of the Erdtree; you must also defeat Starscourge Radahn. Once both bosses are defeated, interact with the arm hanging from the cocoon after Mohg’s fight to enter the Shadow Realm, according to Bandai Namco’s official access guide. The expansion is optional: it is not needed to fight Mohg in the base game.
