In Monster Hunter Wilds, Arena and Challenge Quest rules and rewards depend on the individual quest. A documented May 2025 Free Challenge Quest let up to four hunters race for a clear time without prescribed equipment, and listed separate participation and S-rank rewards. That is one historical example—not a universal ruleset or a live quest listing. Check the current in-game board or Capcom schedule for a specific quest’s entry conditions, availability, and rewards.
What Arena and Challenge Quests are in Wilds
These quests are best understood through their individual listings: do not assume that a rule from one Arena or Challenge Quest applies to another. In particular, mechanics described for earlier Monster Hunter games are historical context, not proof of how a Wilds quest works.

Capcom’s May 2025 announcement documented a Free Challenge Quest built around completing a hunt as quickly as possible. It allowed up to four players and specified no equipment restriction. During its announced run, players could enter through the Quest Counter or the Grand Hub Arena Counter. These details describe that quest only. Capcom’s May 7, 2025 announcement gives the example.
What rewards do they give?
The May 2025 example separated participation rewards from S-rank rewards, so the reward could depend on whether a hunter merely participated or achieved the stated rank. Capcom also said a limited charm would be distributed later; the announcement does not establish that it was delivered immediately. Its image-based reward details are not fully readable in the available text, so no item name or reward threshold should be inferred from it.

- Wild New Adventure – Monster Hunter Wilds follows the story of a special Research Commission investigating the Forbidden Lands. Fully voiced for the first time in the series, the hunter is joined in their journey by a colorful cast of characters, including a Palico partner, Guild-appointed Handler Alma, trusty smithy Gemma, and the mysterious child Nata. Together, the team ventures into an unexplored new frontier where surprises await around every corner.
- A Living World – The Forbidden Lands spans multiple biomes with dynamic identities, such as the Windward Plains and Scarlet Forest, where the ecosystems shift between vibrant seasons brimming with life, and unforgiving climates where monsters fight over limited resources. Changes in the landscape will impact the creatures that live there and push hunters to adapt as well.
- New Monsters and Wildlife – Monster Hunter Wilds features a variety of new creatures, ranging from herds of small species to large monsters – some of which roam the Forbidden Lands in packs. Every creature hunters encounter in the wild has carved out a special place in its habitat and possesses unique attacks and behaviors.
- Players can also now ride atop the Seikret, an agile new mount enabling hunters to traverse difficult terrain, perform actions like sharpening weapons on the move, and switch between two weapons while out on hunts!
- Evolved Hunting Action – The series’ acclaimed action-packed gameplay is back and more exciting than ever! Hunters can look forward to tracking down monsters with an array of new moves, special abilities, equipment, and more. The action also now flows seamlessly from cutscenes to gameplay, resulting in a new level of immersion.
For another quest, read its own reward listing. Check whether rewards are tied to participation, a rank or time condition, and whether the notice says delivery is immediate or delayed. Do not assume every Challenge Quest awards the same charm or uses the same tiers.
How to check a specific quest before joining
Use the current in-game listing or Capcom’s official schedule; the dated examples below do not establish what is active in October 2026. Before setting out, verify:
Rank #2
- Hunt giant nature-infused bests – Survive their attacks, learn from their behaviors, and use your Karakuri and your weapons in combination to cut these creatures down to size.
- Craft your hunting grounds – You are the only one in Azuma able to wield the Karakuri technology.
- Hunt in a pack, or be a lone wolf – In WILD HEARTS you can face the Kemono alone or unite with up to two friends (or other players) to stalk and hunt your prey.
- Gear up to hunt, hunt to gear up – Create your character, then gather materials from each hunt and build an array of armor and weapons.
- Availability: the start and end dates, or whether the quest is currently listed.
- Entry requirements: any Hunter Rank or other eligibility conditions shown for that quest.
- Equipment: whether gear is fixed or player-selected.
- Party rules: the allowed player count and whether solo play is supported.
- Objective and rewards: whether completion time or another condition determines rank, and which rewards belong to participation versus a rank tier.
- Reward delivery: whether the notice says an item is granted after completion or distributed later.
Quest content or implementation can change without notice, so rely on the current listing rather than an old event announcement for live dates, reward cutoffs, or eligibility.
Event Quest availability is a separate question
Capcom announced that almost all Event Quests would become permanently available from February 18, 2026, while noting exceptions. The same announcement identified a specific limited-time Event Quest scheduled for February 28, 2026 at 09:00 through March 19, 2026 at 08:59. Those dates are a past example, not a current schedule. The permanence policy concerns Event Quests and does not establish that every Arena or Challenge Quest is permanent. See Capcom’s February 18, 2026 Ver. 1.041 announcement for its stated policy and example.
Rank #3
- Enter the stadium and take part of one of the biggest competitions across 34 sports: from swimming, soccer, extreme bike, weightlifting, trampoline and much more!
- Defend your own country and visit the World: United States, Australia, Japan, France…
- Train yourself alone or compete with your friends!
- An enhanced version of “30 Sport Games in 1”, with revamped design, new games and more customisation!
How this differs from older Arena quest systems
Older games in the series had their own Arena and Challenge rules. For example, the Monster Hunter Generations manual describes Arena/Challenge quests with special rules, rewards such as coins or special items rather than monster materials, and Arena performance recorded on Guild Cards. That is useful series history, but it should not be read as a description of Wilds. Capcom’s Generations manual covers that earlier title.
