For Monster Hunter Wilds on PC, the documented options range from a scripting framework and small quality-of-life changes to cosmetic tweaks, hunt telemetry, and save-affecting cheats. The available evidence supports six named choices—not ten current, individually verified “best” mods—so this guide identifies what each does and what to check before installing it. None of these recommendations establishes mod support on PlayStation or Xbox.
Six documented picks—and what they change
A July 2025 Shacknews roundup documented five Wilds mods; REFramework is the foundational framework described by its own listing. That makes these useful examples, not a live ranking: check each mod’s current page for its latest update, game-version compatibility, requirements, and known issues before installing.
| Mod or tool | What it does | Best fit | Important trade-off |
|---|---|---|---|
| REFramework | Provides a Lua scripting framework and utilities. Its listing also describes features such as free camera, timescale and field-of-view controls, ultrawide support, and performance fixes. | PC players installing mods that depend on the framework, or users seeking its listed tools. | Requires file placement in the game directory; the framework’s presence does not guarantee that a particular script or feature is compatible. REFramework listing |
| Monster Weakness Icon Indicator | Adds weakness icons beside large-monster artwork. | Players who want a quick reference while preparing for a hunt. | The roundup says it does not cover small monsters or endemic life. Shacknews roundup |
| Skip Pouch Replace Prompt | Sends gathered items to the handler’s field pouch when the personal pouch is full, skipping an interaction prompt. | Players who want gathering to interrupt a hunt less often. | Its usefulness depends on the current mod version and the game’s item-handling behavior. Shacknews roundup |
| Invisible Mantles | Hides equipped mantles so layered armor remains visible. | Players prioritizing their character’s appearance. | It changes presentation rather than hunt mechanics; verify current compatibility on the mod page. Shacknews roundup |
| MHWilds Overlay | Adds a detailed HUD showing information such as monster HP, player and teammate DPS, damage, conditions, and ailments. | Players who want more combat information on screen. | The roundup warns that the display can become cluttered. Telemetry may affect fair-play expectations, so check community, event, and session rules before using it. Shacknews roundup |
| Wilds Rehydrated | Adjusts haze, color, and lighting for a different visual look. | Players who prefer its visual treatment and are willing to compare it with the default image. | The Shacknews author reported a 2–4 FPS loss on their own setup. That is a personal observation, not a general benchmark or a performance guarantee. Shacknews roundup |
How to approach PC mod installation
Installation details can change with game updates and mod releases. The steps below reflect instructions in REFramework’s listing and FluffyQuack’s March 3, 2025 setup post; check those pages and the requirements for each mod before following them.
- Check the mod first. Confirm its latest update, supported Wilds version, prerequisites, and known issues on its current page. Back up your save before using any tool that can change game data.
- Install REFramework if required. The listing instructs users to extract
dinput8.dllinto the game installation folder, put scripts inreframework/autorun, and put plugins inreframework/plugins. Follow the current listing rather than assuming every mod uses the same folders. REFramework instructions - Enable the loose-file loader if your chosen workflow requires it. FluffyQuack’s March 2025 post describes enabling REFramework’s “loose file loader” while the game is running, then installing mods with Fluffy Mod Manager or another method. Treat that as dated guidance and recheck the current versions and instructions. FluffyQuack’s setup post
- Install one mod at a time and test. This makes it easier to identify a conflict or update-related failure. Do not assume a mod works simply because it appears in a catalog.
What can go wrong—and how to recover
Mods are unofficial software, and compatibility is not guaranteed. GamesRadar reported Capcom’s warning that mods may cause compatibility problems, prevent the game from launching, or trigger crashes. The report says Capcom advised removing mods, verifying the game files, and restarting when troubleshooting. GamesRadar’s report on Capcom’s warning

Cheats carry a different level of risk
The Monster Hunter Wilds Cheat Table is a cheat option rather than a cosmetic or convenience mod. Its listing requires Cheat Engine 7.5 or later, warns that invalid values can corrupt save data, and advises against using it in public sessions. The listing’s update date of August 14, 2026 does not establish compatibility with every later game version.
Capcom’s response to fraudulent challenge-quest leaderboard times is a separate reason to avoid gameplay-altering cheats in public, ranked, or event play. PC Gamer reported that Capcom removed fraudulent times, withheld event rewards, restricted accounts, and said it would continue taking action against cheating. This does not establish that every cosmetic or client-side mod results in a ban, but it does make leaderboard manipulation a clear risk. PC Gamer’s report on Capcom’s response

Why this is not a ten-mod ranking
Nexus Mods’ Wilds catalog showed 3.8k mods when accessed in 2026, but that changing count says nothing about quality, safety, or current compatibility. The evidence here documents six named choices, including the framework; it does not establish four more current picks or support a defensible top-ten order. Treat the named mods as starting points, not endorsements of their present compatibility.
