The announced global release date was February 28, 2025. PlayStation introduced the date during its September 2024 State of Play presentation, so it was an official reveal rather than a rumor. PlayStation’s announcement gave the date, which Capcom later confirmed in its release announcement.

Which platforms launched the game?
Capcom announced Monster Hunter Wilds for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, with cross-play so players could play together regardless of platform. That announcement does not establish that every online feature or requirement is identical across platforms. Capcom’s platform and cross-play details provide the original scope.
What was announced about editions?
PlayStation’s September 2024 reveal described a PS5 Premium Deluxe Edition with the main game and a Cosmetic DLC Pass containing three DLC packs scheduled for release by summer 2025. Those were reveal-era details, not confirmation of what is currently offered. The PlayStation Store listing for Monster Hunter Wilds includes a PS5 Standard Edition; check the live listing for current editions, availability, and price.

Hunters can look forward to tracking down monsters with an array of new moves, special abilities, equipment, and more. The action also now flows seamlessly from cutscenes to gameplay, resulting in a new level of immersion.
What happened after launch?
Capcom reported that Monster Hunter Wilds sold more than 10 million units worldwide in its first month. This is the company’s dated first-month sales milestone, not a current lifetime total. Capcom’s announcement also identifies February 28, 2025, as the game’s release date.
