Why Metroid Prime 4: Beyond stood out late in the year
In its fall 2025 editorial roundup, GamesRadar called Metroid Prime 4: Beyond its most anticipated remaining game of the year. That is GamesRadar’s assessment, not a finding about overall player consensus. Nintendo announced that the game would launch on December 4, 2025 for Switch 2 and Switch, highlighting Samus’s psychic abilities and the Vi-O-La vehicle.
Nintendo Switch 2’s place in the 2025 calendar
Nintendo announced that Switch 2 would launch on June 5, 2025. The company said the console plays titles exclusive to Switch 2 as well as compatible Nintendo Switch games, and its software schedule lists 2025 releases for the platform. That makes the new hardware important context for Nintendo’s 2025 lineup, but it does not make Switch 2 a requirement for this broader cross-platform list. Check Nintendo’s current game and compatibility information for a particular title before choosing a system.

Did Grand Theft Auto VI come out in 2025?
No. In May 2025, Take-Two said Grand Theft Auto VI, previously expected in fall 2025, was planned for release on May 26, 2026. The Associated Press also reported the delay. That announced date is a record of the company’s May 2025 plan; it is not confirmation here of the game’s current release date.
Take-Two’s statement explained the change this way: “Grand Theft Auto VI, which was expected to launch in Fall of 2025, is now planned for release on May 26, 2026.” The shift is why GTA VI should not appear in a retrospective list of 2025 launches.
