MSI launched the China-market Titan 18 Pro 2024—also listed in MSI’s product pages as the Titan 18 HX A14V—with an Intel Core i9-14900HX and RTX 4080 or RTX 4090 Laptop GPU options. The March 2024 China presale prices were ¥24,999 for the RTX 4080 model and ¥28,999 for the RTX 4090 model. Both target desktop-replacement buyers with an 18-inch 3840×2400 Mini LED display, high power limits and extensive upgrade capacity.
What launched, and why the names differ
MSI’s China launch coverage calls the machine the Titan 18 Pro 2024, while MSI’s broader specification and overview pages use Titan 18 HX A14V. These names describe the same 2024-generation 18-inch product family, not two unrelated laptops. MSI’s CES-related China announcement said its new products began selling on January 9, 2024; the specific Titan 18 Pro RTX 4080 and RTX 4090 presale report appeared on March 4, 2024.
The Titan 18 Ultra was a separate model in the same lineup. MSI associated a 270W performance-release claim with that Ultra model, so that figure should not be applied automatically to the Pro.

China launch prices and configurations
The following are historical China presale prices reported on March 4, 2024, not current 2026 prices or official US MSRP. The report’s dollar conversions were approximately $3,472 and $4,028 at the time.

The reported premium for the RTX 4090 model was ¥4,000. A later China retail report described an RTX 4090 configuration with 192GB RAM and 4TB storage for ¥36,599; that is an expanded configuration, not the base launch price. See the launch pricing report and later 192GB/4TB listing report.
Availability evidence concerns China listings, including presale channels. It does not establish worldwide stock. Imported units can differ in Windows language and edition, keyboard layout, charger plug, warranty eligibility, memory, storage and GPU power profile.

Display: a 4K-class Mini LED panel with a demanding workload
The 16:10 3840×2400 panel combines Mini LED backlighting, a 120Hz refresh rate, full DCI-P3 coverage and DisplayHDR 1000 certification. Launch coverage describes roughly 1,000 backlight zones and peak brightness of up to 1,000 nits. That combination suits HDR games, video work and productivity as much as it suits gaming.
Panel capability is not the same as guaranteed frame rate. Native 3840×2400 rendering with demanding ray tracing can exceed what even an RTX 4090 Laptop GPU can sustain at 120 frames per second. DLSS upscaling, frame generation where supported, reduced settings or a lower internal render resolution may be necessary. The RTX 4090’s 16GB VRAM gives it more headroom than the RTX 4080’s 12GB in high-resolution and memory-heavy workloads, but no fixed performance uplift is established without controlled testing.
Power and cooling
The Titan 18 Pro launch report cites up to 250W total system power in Ultra mode, with the GPU reaching 175W using Dynamic Boost 2.0 and the CPU reported at up to 75W. That is a vendor or launch-report power target, not proof of a constant all-core or all-game operating point.
The same report describes two fans and six heat pipes. MSI’s family overview instead describes a vapor-chamber design with two fans and four exhausts. These descriptions may reflect different configurations or levels of product detail, so buyers should check the exact SKU. High sustained power also normally means more heat, fan noise and dependence on the 330W adapter; no measured temperatures or acoustics are established by the cited material.

Upgradeability and connectivity
Memory and storage
Four memory slots and stated support for up to 192GB make the platform unusually flexible for a gaming notebook. The launch machines were described with up to 64GB, while MSI’s comparison page shows higher-memory RTX 4090 variants. The 2TB PCIe 4.0 SSD is a cited configuration rather than a universal capacity; later listings reached 4TB.
External devices
Thunderbolt 4, HDMI 2.1, Ethernet, an SD reader and three USB-A ports cover a fixed desktop setup without requiring a dock. Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 are listed for the cited China SKU, but Wi-Fi 7’s theoretical link rate is not a measured internet or file-transfer result.
Strengths and drawbacks
Reasons to consider it
- Desktop-class 2024 CPU and high-power RTX 4080/4090 Laptop GPU options.
- Large HDR-capable 4K-class Mini LED display with 120Hz refresh.
- 16GB VRAM on the RTX 4090 version.
- Four memory slots and expansion potential up to 192GB.
- Broad connectivity, including Thunderbolt 4, HDMI 2.1, Ethernet and SD.
- 99.9Wh battery, the practical upper limit commonly used in laptop designs.
Reasons to hesitate
- Very high launch pricing, with no verified current 2026 price or stock.
- 3.6kg chassis plus a substantial 330W charger makes it a desktop replacement, not an everyday travel notebook.
- Native 3840×2400 gaming at high frame rates can require upscaling or reduced settings.
- A laptop RTX 4090 is not equivalent to the desktop RTX 4090.
- China-market imports may involve warranty, keyboard, plug, tax and parts-support complications.
- SKU variation makes generic claims about RAM, storage, ports and power risky.
Who the Titan 18 Pro suits
It fits buyers who want a largely stationary gaming system with an unusually large HDR display, high sustained power and workstation-style memory capacity. It is also attractive to creators whose applications benefit from 16GB of GPU memory and very large system RAM.

Frequent travelers, value-focused buyers and owners of a powerful desktop should be cautious. The total landed cost of an imported unit includes shipping, taxes, payment fees, warranty risk and possible upgrade costs. A China listing should not be assumed to receive the same service as a locally sold Titan 18 HX.
Verdict
The MSI Titan 18 Pro 2024 was an uncompromising China-market flagship: Core i9-14900HX performance, RTX 4080 or RTX 4090 Laptop GPU options, a 4K-class 120Hz Mini LED panel and unusually high memory headroom. Its appeal is clearest as a powerful desktop replacement. The ¥24,999 and ¥28,999 figures remain useful historical launch benchmarks, but a 2026 purchase decision requires current pricing, stock, warranty terms and independent performance testing.
