What Switch 2 settings can you change at the system level?

Remap supported controllers
- Open System Settings > Accessibility > Button Mapping.
- Select the connected controller, change its button assignments, then save the mapping.
- Switch 2 can store up to five mapping presets for each controller. Stick mapping can also swap which side uses the left and right control sticks.
Nintendo lists Joy-Con 2, Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller, Joy-Con, and Nintendo Switch Pro Controller as supported for button mapping. Mapping the GL/GR buttons on a Switch 2 Pro Controller or Joy-Con 2 Charging Grip is different: open Quick Settings while a game is running to configure them.

Use menu-focused reading and display options
The Accessibility menu also includes text-to-speech for the HOME Menu, Album, and System Settings; screen zoom; display color changes such as grayscale or inverted colors; and mono audio. Text-to-speech offers adjustable voice type, speed, and volume, while available languages depend on system support and updates.
System text can be set to standard, large, or maximum size, with bold text and high contrast options. Nintendo specifies that text size, bolding, and contrast changes apply to the HOME Menu and System Settings—not during gameplay. Its guide says: “Note: These settings are not reflected when playing a game. Please check the game’s own settings for related accessibility options.”

Can you use another version’s controls as a Switch 2 guide?
No. A third-party guide published July 18, 2025 describes PC keyboard and controller controls and says they can be viewed from the title menu’s Settings > Controls, or from the in-game menu. Its keyboard reference includes WASD movement, mouse buttons for fire/action and rotate/return, and keys for investigate, quick turn, map, files, inventory, reload, and weapon selection. The guide also lists controller inputs, but those are not verified Switch 2 bindings.
If you are playing a version that offers that menu, inspect its own control display and follow the prompts shown by your installed game. Do not assume its labels or button assignments match Joy-Con 2 or Switch 2 Pro Controller prompts.

What if changed controls make the game hard to navigate?
For the documented PC case, a developer replied in a Steam Community discussion on August 8, 2023 that deleting the controls file in save data would hard-reset controls, or that connecting a gamepad could let the player restore defaults. The reply refers to a Windows-style AppData/LocalLow save location; it is not a console recovery procedure. Do not delete files or apply that fix on Switch 2.
