If NBA 2K25 keeps crashing or freezing on your PS4, start with a full console restart and check for game and system updates. If that does not help, move on to Safe Mode checks, test whether other games are affected, and reinstall NBA 2K25 only as a later step. These are troubleshooting options—not guaranteed fixes—and 2K does not identify one universal cause or publish a PS4-only cure. 2K’s NBA 2K25 troubleshooting guide recognizes crashes and freezes and points players to general troubleshooting and support.
Try these fixes in order
Begin with the lower-effort checks. If the crash happens only during online play, at startup, or after one repeatable in-game action, note that pattern; it can help you describe the issue, but it does not by itself prove the cause.

Fully restart the PS4
Shut the console down completely, wait until it is off, then start it again and launch NBA 2K25. A full restart is a basic console troubleshooting step recommended by 2K’s console troubleshooting guide.

Check for a game update
Highlight NBA 2K25, open its options, and choose the option to check for updates. Install an available patch, then test the game again. 2K includes checking for a game update in its PlayStation crash troubleshooting guidance.

Check for a PS4 system software update
Open the PS4 system software update settings and install an offered update by following PlayStation’s game-launch troubleshooting instructions. This is platform-level guidance, not a diagnosis of NBA 2K25.

Check whether the problem is tied to online features
If the crash or error appears while connecting to online features, use the console network troubleshooting links from 2K’s NBA 2K25 support guide and run the PS4 connection test. A connection or server issue should not be assumed unless the symptoms support it; record when the failure happens.

Rebuild the database in Safe Mode
Turn off the PS4. Hold the power button until you hear the second beep, connect the controller to the console with a USB cable, then choose the database rebuild option in Safe Mode. 2K lists rebuilding the database as a PlayStation crash troubleshooting option. Follow 2K’s console instructions for the available options. Back up saved data before trying storage repair or system software update options.

Use other Safe Mode options cautiously
If needed, 2K also lists options such as repairing console storage, updating system software, and clearing the cache or rebuilding the database. Check PlayStation’s current guidance and back up saved data before storage repair or system update steps. Do not treat initialization—which can erase data—as a routine next step.

See whether other games or discs are affected
If you play NBA 2K25 from a disc, try another game disc. If only NBA 2K25 fails, that narrows the symptom to this game or its installation, but does not establish the reason. If multiple discs fail, follow PlayStation’s PS4 disc troubleshooting steps.

Delete and reinstall NBA 2K25
If the earlier steps do not resolve persistent crashes, 2K lists deleting and reinstalling the game as an option. Before removing it, understand your save-backup arrangements and the steps needed to reinstall or redownload the game. See 2K’s PlayStation troubleshooting guidance.

Contact 2K Support with specific details
Use the support links in 2K’s NBA 2K25 guide to submit a ticket if the issue continues. Include the game mode, when the problem began relative to a patch, what you did immediately before the crash, any error code, whether it repeats at the same point, and the troubleshooting steps you have already tried.

Use the symptom to guide your next step
- Crashes at startup: Try the restart and update checks first. If other games launch normally, report that the issue appears specific to NBA 2K25.
- Crashes while connecting online: Run the PS4 connection test and describe the online step where the error occurs. Do not assume a server fault based on a crash alone.
- Crashes during one mode or action: Note the exact mode and repeatable action for 2K Support, along with any error code.
- More than one game or disc has trouble: Use PlayStation’s platform or disc troubleshooting rather than treating NBA 2K25 as the only possible source.
What these steps can—and cannot—establish
2K’s NBA 2K25 guide acknowledges crashes and freezes but does not provide a dedicated PS4 nine-step fix or establish a single cause. Its separate PlayStation crash-code guidance discusses code CE-108255-1 and options such as updates, database rebuilding, reinstalling, or an SSD workaround where available; that material is not NBA 2K25-specific, and it does not mean every NBA 2K25 PS4 crash has that code. There is no supported crash-frequency statistic or PS4 crash-performance figure to apply to this problem.
