Netflix’s mobile catalog includes Street Fighter IV: Champion Edition, a separate downloadable app for Android phones and tablets, iPhone, and iPad. Capcom announced the Netflix edition on April 23, 2025; the iOS listing records global availability on June 10, 2025. It remains listed and supported in 2026, but it is not a new 2026 launch.
The game is included with an active Netflix membership rather than sold as a standalone free-to-play title. Download it from Netflix Games or the relevant app store, then authenticate with your Netflix account.
What Netflix actually added
The precise title is Street Fighter IV: Champion Edition (shown in app stores as Street Fighter IV CE NETFLIX), a mobile adaptation built with Capcom and FINE. It is not Street Fighter V or Street Fighter 6, and downloading it does not stream the game through Netflix: the game installs as its own app.
The Netflix edition advertises 32 playable fighters, including later additions such as Dudley, Ibuki, Poison, Guy, Gouken, Evil Ryu, Elena, Juri, and Rose. Its listed features include arcade and survival modes, online head-to-head play, tutorials, four difficulty levels, wide-screen presentation, high-resolution graphics, virtual controls, and an SP Assist option that makes special moves easier to trigger. Apple’s current store record also shows maintenance version 1.01.05 dated July 28, although the year is not clear in the returned listing. That entry should not be treated as proof of a 2026 launch. (Capcom announcement; Apple App Store)
How to install it
Android phones and tablets
- Open the Netflix app and find the Mobile Games row, or tap the Games shortcut.
- Select Street Fighter IV CE and follow the prompt to Google Play.
- Download and install the separate game app.
- Launch it and sign in with an eligible Netflix membership and profile if prompted.
If Games or the Mobile Games row is missing, Netflix recommends updating its app. Downloading and installing also require free storage and an internet connection. The official Android listing is Google Play.
iPhone and iPad
- Search the App Store for Street Fighter IV CE NETFLIX.
- Download the app, which the listing identifies as 3.2 GB.
- Open it and authenticate with an active Netflix membership.
- Choose a Netflix profile if the game asks you to do so.
Use the official iPhone and iPad listing rather than a similarly named conventional Capcom release.

Devices and software requirements
Netflix lists Android phones and tablets, iPhone, and iPad as supported device categories. Its general support page contains conflicting requirement language: one section recommends Android 9, iOS 17, and iPadOS 17 or later, while another still states Android 8.0, iOS 15, and iPadOS 15 or later. For Apple hardware, the live App Store listing is the safer practical authority and currently specifies iOS 17 or later and iPadOS 17 or later. Is the game free?
You do not make a separate game purchase or pay an in-game purchase to unlock the advertised roster, but an active Netflix subscription is required. The accurate description is included with Netflix membership, not permanently free or independently owned.
Apple’s U.S. listing displayed an in-app purchase signal for “Netflix Standard Plan — $19.99” when crawled. That is a region- and account-specific store signal, not a universal Netflix price; plans, taxes, promotions, billing channels, and availability vary. Netflix’s signup page is netflix.com/signup.
Modes, controls, and multiplayer
- Single-player: arcade and survival modes, tutorials, and four difficulty levels.
- Touch play: virtual-pad controls are built in, with SP Assist for easier special moves.
- Controllers: a connected controller works during fights but not in menus. You may still need touch input to navigate setup and selection screens.
- Cross-platform matchmaking: Netflix’s game help center documents play between iOS and Android. This does not guarantee low latency or permanent server availability.

Offline play, cloud saves, and connectivity
Netflix lists offline play and cloud saves for the title, but its support page also says an internet connection is required to download, install, and play the game. Those statements do not establish that every mode works offline indefinitely.

- Internet is required for the initial download and installation.
- Authentication, subscription checks, multiplayer, and some launches may require connectivity.
- Cloud saves can help preserve progress across compatible devices, but Netflix does not promise seamless save transfer between every platform combination.
If offline access matters, test the modes you need in airplane mode after installation instead of assuming unrestricted offline operation.
When the game does not appear or launch
It is missing from Netflix or the store
- Update the Netflix app.
- Confirm that the device and operating system meet the current store listing.
- Check profile restrictions, market availability, and free storage.
- Search for the full Netflix title, Street Fighter IV CE NETFLIX, rather than only “Street Fighter IV.”
It installs but will not start
- Verify the Netflix membership and account profile.
- Connect to the internet for first authentication.
- Check available storage and pending app or operating-system updates.
- Do not expect the app to function as a DRM-free copy if Netflix access ends.
The controller appears broken
Menu input is not supported by controllers according to the App Store description. Navigate with touch controls and connect or activate the controller before entering a match.
Online matches fail
Check network quality, account authentication, regional service status, and matchmaking availability. Documented iOS–Android compatibility does not promise a permanently available service or equal latency in every region.
Netflix edition versus Capcom’s conventional mobile release
Capcom has also distributed non-Netflix mobile editions of Street Fighter IV: Champion Edition. The important difference is ownership model: the conventional app is purchased or unlocked through its app-store distribution, while the Netflix edition is tied to an active Netflix membership. Who should download it?
It is a sensible addition for an existing Netflix subscriber who wants a substantial fighting game without another game purchase, a 32-character roster, and both solo and online modes on a phone or tablet. Cross-platform iOS–Android matchmaking and listed cloud saves add convenience.
It is a weaker fit for someone seeking a modern mainline Street Fighter, precise controller-first competitive play, a small download, or permanent access independent of Netflix. Touch controls can also make demanding links and charge moves harder, and the 3.2 GB iOS download is substantial.
Subscribing solely for this older mobile adaptation is difficult to justify; its strongest value is as an extra benefit for people who already pay for Netflix.
