The preview gives only brief role descriptions—not datasheets, points, or enough rules to judge how the units will perform.
What new Custodes units are in Assault on Kol?
Games Workshop’s preview names two new Proconsul units for the Legio Custodes. Their stated roles distinguish them, but the preview does not explain their complete rules.
| Unit | Role described in the preview | What the preview does not establish |
|---|---|---|
| Ephoroi Venatari-Proconsul | Commands forces from the skies. | Its profile, equipment, points, and battlefield performance. |
| Hykanatoi Proconsul-Delegate | Is suited to leading smaller armies. | Its profile, equipment, points, and battlefield performance. |
These descriptions indicate intended themes, not specific mechanics. They do not establish how either Proconsul moves, fights, joins units, or changes army-building options. Games Workshop’s preview is available in its Big Autumn Preview, published 18 September 2026.
What changes for the Gyrfalcon Jetbike Sodality?
The supplement includes an updated profile for the Gyrfalcon Jetbike Sodality. The preview does not show the revised profile or identify which characteristics or rules have changed, so it is not possible to compare the old and new versions from the announcement alone.

What else does the Journal Tactica add to Horus Heresy?
Daemons of Slaanesh and corrupted Solar Auxilia
The book introduces a new army list for the Daemons of Slaanesh, with army-wide special rules. It also offers the option to include Exalted Sections representing corrupted Solar Auxilia units. The preview establishes these as additional game content, but does not provide the rules needed to assess their composition or interactions.
A Legendary Mission set beneath Kol
Kol is a mining world in the Signus Cluster. The supplement’s story centers on Legio Custodes fighting below its surface against Word Bearers, daemons, and corrupted forces of the 606th Cohort of the Solar Auxilia. A Legendary Mission recreates Shield-Captain Medraut’s attack on the corrupted subterranean hive-city network. Games Workshop summarized that mission and the Custodes additions in its Sunday Preview, published 27 September 2026.

Does the preview reveal enough to judge the new units?
No. The official announcements identify the two Proconsuls’ broad roles and confirm an updated Gyrfalcon profile, but do not publish full unit rules, points, or profiles. They therefore do not support conclusions about efficiency, durability, damage, army-list value, or competitive performance. Those details require the book’s rules or a later official rules source.
