The notice does not confirm a rumored Nintendo Direct date or time, and it does not say the entire eShop will be unavailable.
What Nintendo’s maintenance notice says
Nintendo’s US network-status listing schedules maintenance for eShop activity involving prepaid-funds cards and download codes. It gives the window as Monday, October 19, 2026, at 8:45 p.m. Pacific Time through Tuesday, October 20, at 1:00 a.m. Pacific Time.
Nintendo’s notice says, “During the maintenance window, network services may be unavailable.” That is a warning that the named network services may be unavailable—not an announcement that every eShop feature or the full storefront will be offline.

If you need to redeem a prepaid-funds card or download code, do it before the maintenance begins in your region. Nintendo’s notice does not specify whether other eShop activities will be affected, so avoid assuming they will either work normally or be unavailable throughout the window.
