Is Roblox getting banned in the US? The official materials reviewed as of October 7, 2026 do not establish a nationwide U.S. ban. They do describe state-level restrictions and proposals, as well as a Tennessee lawsuit that is still proceeding—not a final finding that Roblox deceived consumers.
That conclusion reflects the sources reviewed, not a guarantee about future government action or a comprehensive inventory of every pending measure. Because the situation can change, check for new government actions and court orders before relying on this status.
What the Sources Say About a US Ban
Roblox’s June 30, 2026 SEC filing discusses varying federal and state rules for digital services used by children. It names Utah, Louisiana, Alabama, and Texas in its discussion of enacted restrictions, and says other states and the federal government are considering similar proposals. This is Roblox’s company disclosure, not a comprehensive government inventory of every law.
The filing also discusses the possibility that authorities may limit access to Roblox and reports restrictions or blocks in certain jurisdictions. A restriction in a particular place or on a particular feature is not automatically a nationwide U.S. shutdown.

| Development | What the dossier establishes | What it does not establish |
|---|---|---|
| State rules | Roblox’s filing describes enacted restrictions and additional proposals. | That the named states have banned Roblox statewide. |
| Federal proposals | Roblox says the federal government is considering similar proposals. | That a proposal is an enacted nationwide ban. |
| Tennessee lawsuit | The court allowed the state’s consumer-protection case to proceed. | A final finding that Roblox deceived consumers or an order to shut down. |
What Is Happening in Tennessee?
On September 22, 2026, the Tennessee Attorney General said a court denied Roblox’s request to dismiss the state’s consumer-protection lawsuit. The case may proceed, but the state emphasized that the order is not a final determination of whether Roblox deceived Tennessee consumers.
Attorney General Jonathan Skrmetti said, “The Court’s ruling means that Roblox will have to answer for those statements.” The same release cautioned: “This order is not a final determination of whether Roblox actually deceived Tennessee consumers.” These are allegations in a continuing case, not a final court finding.

Restrictions, Proposals, Lawsuits, and Bans Are Different
Legal developments can have different scopes and statuses. A state rule may address matters such as parental consent, age assurance, spending, communications with strangers, or recommendations. A proposal is not yet an enacted rule. A lawsuit is a claim being litigated, and a court ruling allowing a case to continue does not decide the underlying allegations.
Roblox’s filing discusses state restrictions and proposals, and possible limits on platform access. Keep those developments distinct from a nationwide ban. The materials reviewed for this article do not establish that the U.S. government has ordered Roblox shut down nationwide.

What Roblox Says About Safety
In an August 15, 2025 response to a Louisiana Attorney General lawsuit, Roblox described its safety measures and disputed claims about its practices. That is the company’s account, not an independent assessment or a court finding.
Roblox also acknowledged: “No system is perfect and bad actors adapt to evade detection, including efforts to take users to other platforms, where safety standards and moderation practices may differ.” Readers should distinguish the company’s statements from findings by a court or government authority.

What Players and Parents Should Do
Do not treat a social media claim about a coming ban as confirmation. For a reliable status check, look for official government announcements, enacted laws, and court orders, and note their jurisdiction, legal status, scope, and date. The situation can change, and the sources reviewed here do not provide a comprehensive inventory of every pending measure across the country.

Does the Tennessee lawsuit mean Roblox has been found guilty?
No. The Tennessee case may proceed, but the Attorney General said the court’s order is not a final determination of whether Roblox deceived consumers.
Do the state restrictions Roblox lists mean those states banned the platform?
No such conclusion follows from the filing. Roblox’s SEC disclosure describes state restrictions involving digital services used by children; it does not say that the four named states banned Roblox.
Could the situation change?
Yes. Check for newly published government actions, enacted laws, and court orders before relying on this time-sensitive status.
