Silver appears in Sonic Generations as a rival, but the available official material does not explain where he was beyond that encounter. The fight takes place in different stages depending on the version: Crisis City on console and PC, and Tropical Resort on Nintendo 3DS. Those are battle locations, not a complete account of Silver’s whereabouts.
What Silver’s appearance in Sonic Generations establishes
Silver is present as a rival opponent. A fan-maintained reference identifies the location of that fight by version, but the encounter alone does not establish where Silver was before or after it, or explain his broader off-screen whereabouts.

The locations are version-specific encounter details, not competing answers to the larger question of where Silver was in the story.
Does the official material explain Silver’s whereabouts?
SEGA’s online manual for Sonic X Shadow Generations documents the included Sonic Generations content and White Space, but does not explain Silver’s off-screen whereabouts.

That leaves the central question unresolved by the official material reviewed: it confirms a rival encounter, but does not give a Silver-specific account of his wider location or timeline.

Sonic Team executive Takashi Iizuka said the game leaves the Eggmans’ escape from White Space to players’ imagination: “Sonic Generations ends with that ending, and so we want to leave it up to everyone’s imagination and guess how Eggman—the Eggmans—got out of White Space.” (interview)

His comment is specifically about Eggman and White Space. It does not answer where Silver was, so it should not be treated as confirmation that Silver’s whereabouts were intentionally left open.

What can—and cannot—be concluded
- Silver’s rival fight is part of the game, and its stage differs between the console/PC and 3DS versions.
- The encounter location does not establish Silver’s whereabouts beyond the fight.
- The cited SEGA manual and Iizuka interview do not provide a Silver-specific explanation.
- Any broader account of where Silver was should be labeled as interpretation or fan theory, not established canon.
