nuvparsr.dll Missing: Restore the Right USB TV Software

Start with this diagnostic checklist

Before downloading anything, answer these questions:

• Which program shows the error: USB TV Pro, a Hauppauge or Manhattan capture utility, another old video application, or a game?
• Does the message appear when Windows starts, when you connect a USB tuner, or only when opening the application?
• Did the problem begin after an uninstall, antivirus alert, Windows upgrade, disk cleanup, driver change, or moving the program folder?

What the error messages mean

You may see one of these messages:

• “This application failed to start because nuvparsr.dll was not found.”
• “The file nuvparsr.dll is missing or corrupted.”
• “A required component is missing: nuvparsr.dll. Please install the application again.”
• “Error loading nuvparsr.dll. The specified module could not be found.”

Use the application’s repair option

1. Open Start → Settings → Apps → Installed apps.

Do not copy nuvparsr.dll separately from another package. A similar file from a different Hauppauge, Zoran, Philips, Manhattan, or capture-device installer may have different companion files and may not match your application.

There is no verified current Zoran download page established for this file. If you cannot find the original installer, identify the exact hardware model first and look for the OEM installation media or manufacturer support archive. If the package cannot be verified, do not install a DLL obtained from a random mirror.

Fix 2: Check whether Windows Security quarantined the file

Security software may remove an old DLL if its behavior or signature cannot be trusted. That does not prove every detection is a false positive.

1. Open Start and search for Windows Security.
2. Select Virus & threat protection.
3. Choose Protection history.
4. Review entries from the time the application stopped working.
5. Expand any detection associated with the USB-TV program or its installation directory.
6. Confirm the file path, application name, and publisher information.
7. If the original installer is trusted and the detection is clearly related to it, follow Windows Security’s available restore or allow options.
8. Reinstalling the complete package from trusted media is preferable to restoring an unexplained standalone DLL.

Afterward, run a scan of the installer and the application folder. If the file disappears again, investigate the detection rather than repeatedly copying it back.

Fix 3: Check the application path and permissions

An application can report a missing DLL when its folder was moved, renamed, partially copied, or made inaccessible.

1. Right-click the application shortcut.
2. Select Properties.
3. On the Shortcut tab, choose Open File Location.
4. Confirm that the executable and its companion files are in the expected folder.
5. If the shortcut points to an old drive letter or an unavailable folder, recreate the shortcut from the current installation.
6. Right-click the application executable and select Properties.
7. Open the Compatibility tab.
8. Select Run this program as an administrator temporarily.
9. Select Apply, then OK, and test the program.

Administrator access can help expose a permissions problem, but it does not make an incompatible driver work. If running as administrator changes nothing, remove the setting unless the application genuinely requires it.

Do not place the file in System32, SysWOW64, or another global Windows folder. Those folders are not general-purpose storage for application DLLs, and copying files there can cause version conflicts.

Fix 4: Install the correct driver and application package

nuvparsr.dll appears to be an application or support component shipped with USB-TV software, while the hardware may also require a separate legacy driver. Restoring the DLL alone will not repair a missing or incompatible device driver.

Check Device Manager

1. Connect the USB-TV device.
2. Right-click Start and select Device Manager.
3. Expand Cameras, Sound, video and game controllers, Universal Serial Bus controllers, and Other devices.
4. Look for the tuner, capture device, an unknown device, or a warning icon.

If the old device appears normally but the application still reports nuvparsr.dll, repair or reinstall the application package. If Device Manager shows an unknown device or a driver error, install the complete OEM driver package before troubleshooting the DLL further.

Update or reinstall the driver

Use the original device package whenever possible. Avoid mixing a driver from one model with the application from another.

If you need to remove a damaged device entry:

1. In Device Manager, right-click the affected device.
2. Select Uninstall device.

Fix 5: Repair Windows components only when Windows corruption is suspected

Many DLL repair pages recommend registering every missing DLL. That is incorrect here.

regsvr32 is intended for self-registering OLE and ActiveX components that provide a DllRegisterServer entry point. There is no verified evidence that nuvparsr.dll provides that entry point. Registering it may produce an error stating that the module was loaded but DllRegisterServer was not found.

That message does not mean the file belongs in another folder. It means registration is not the appropriate repair. Use the original application installer instead.

Do not install Visual C++, DirectX, or .NET blindly

If the file is restored but the device still fails

A successful DLL repair does not guarantee that old capture hardware will work on current Windows.

Check these possibilities:

• Device Manager still shows an unknown device or warning icon.
• The USB-TV driver is too old for the current Windows installation.
• The application and driver came from different hardware packages.
• The application is launching from a copied or outdated folder.
• Antivirus software removes the file after every reinstall.
• A dependency of nuvparsr.dll is missing.
• The device requires a 32-bit driver that modern 64-bit Windows cannot load.
• The capture application expects hardware that is no longer connected.

If the application launches but shows no video, troubleshoot the device driver, USB connection, input source, and capture settings separately. Do not keep replacing the DLL.
