NVIDIA and Discord introduced a cloud-streamed Fortnite demo that let eligible PC users try the game from Discord without downloading Fortnite or joining GeForce NOW. The specific Fortnite Trial was a limited-time offer that ran from October 6 through October 30, 2025, so that trial window has ended. Epic required an Epic account.
What the Fortnite demo was
Discord provided the place to discover and launch the demo, NVIDIA supplied streaming through its Graphics Delivery Network and GeForce NOW technology, and Fortnite was the first game offered. The idea was to let someone move from a friend’s Discord activity or game conversation into a playable trial without first downloading Fortnite, installing a separate launcher, or signing up for GeForce NOW. NVIDIA described the stream as reaching up to 1440p at 60 frames per second; that was a stated maximum, not the result of an independent performance test. Discord’s announcement and NVIDIA’s October update describe the integration.
How do I access Fortnite Trial in Discord?
Epic’s support instructions described the trial as a PC-only offer for people who did not already have Fortnite installed on their PC. Its eligible regions were the United States, Canada, Mexico, and specified European countries and territories. The documented access window was October 6 through October 30, 2025, ending at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time. Those dates have passed, and Epic’s page does not establish that this trial remains available or has been replaced by another one. Epic’s Fortnite Trial support page contains the original eligibility and access details.
How long was the Fortnite Discord trial?
Eligible users could have up to two sessions each week, with each session capped at 30 minutes. Ending a session early did not extend it beyond the time limit. The overall offer was also time-limited: October 6–30, 2025, rather than a continuing free-play option. These limits come from Epic’s support documentation.

Did the demo require GeForce NOW or a download?
NVIDIA said a GeForce NOW membership was not required for the limited-time trial. The point of the experience was to stream Fortnite without downloading or installing the game or opening a separate launcher. An Epic account was still required, so “no download” did not mean “no account.” The announced stream ceiling was up to 1440p and 60 fps, according to the companies; actual results may vary, and the cited announcements do not provide an independent test of latency, image quality, or performance.
Why put a playable demo in Discord?
Discord’s pitch was to reduce the steps between hearing about a game and playing it with friends. The company said its internal 2025 data showed that 72% of users played games with friends while using Discord weekly, 50% streamed gameplay to friends, and 40% launched the same game within an hour of watching a friend stream. Discord also reported that gameplay sessions increased sevenfold when users played with at least one friend. These are Discord’s own figures, not independently audited statistics. Discord’s announcement presents them as part of its case for instant play.

For developers and publishers, a playable demo in a social platform could offer a route to game discovery where players already talk and share gameplay. Discord invited interested developers to contact its business-development team. The announcement describes a prospective partnership opportunity; it does not establish an affiliate program, commission, or consumer offer. Discord’s post includes its developer invitation.

The specific offer Epic documented ended on October 30, 2025. The cited announcements and support page do not confirm that Fortnite Trial is still available or that another game has since been added to Discord instant play. Treat the Fortnite promotion as a past trial unless Discord or Epic publishes current access details.
