The Nvidia GeForce LAN 50 giveaway was real, but it is over. The limited-time online missions ran from January 4–6, 2025, and offered in-game cosmetics for five games—not free copies of those games. As of 2026, the original claim window has ended unless Nvidia separately relaunches the promotion.
Nvidia’s official event page records the rewards and the original process: sign in through the Nvidia App or GeForce Experience, play a featured game for 50 continuous minutes, restart the Nvidia software, and claim the associated item. See the official GeForce LAN 50 page.
What Nvidia gave away
GeForce LAN 50 Missions distributed digital, game-specific items such as mounts, armor, outfits and a mask. They were promotional rewards tied to the event, not game licenses, Battle Passes or hardware bundles. You generally needed access to the relevant game and its account to use an item.

Nvidia described the festival, its missions and these associated rewards on its event page. Nothing in that list represents a free download of World of Warcraft, Diablo IV or any of the other games.

How the original online missions worked
- Open the Nvidia App or GeForce Experience and sign in with an Nvidia account.
- Play one of the featured games for 50 continuous minutes.
- Restart the Nvidia App or GeForce Experience after completing the mission.
- Use the claim control in Nvidia’s software to redeem the reward.
“Continuous” was Nvidia’s wording. The published instructions do not establish every edge case, including whether pausing, menu time, changing games or a disconnect preserved progress. It is therefore unsafe to treat the requirement as 50 minutes accumulated whenever convenient.
Claiming an item in Nvidia’s software was not necessarily the same as seeing it instantly in a game. The correct publisher account may have been required, and a game restart or a check of its collection, wardrobe, mount list or mailbox could have been necessary. Nvidia’s event page does not document a single delivery location for all five games, so game-specific menu instructions should be confirmed with the publisher rather than guessed.
Could GeForce NOW users participate?
Nvidia separately promoted GeForce NOW as a way for eligible members to take part, including by streaming the featured games without a conventional game-ready PC. That information comes from Nvidia’s January 2025 GeForce NOW announcement.

GeForce NOW did not make every reward universally free. Participation could depend on a GeForce NOW account or membership, ownership or access to the game, supported storefront and account linking, regional availability, and the promotion being active. The announcement does not establish that every user or every plan qualified.

Was an Nvidia graphics card required?
Nvidia’s materials frame the standard PC route around a compatible GeForce gaming setup and Nvidia software. The main event announcement described joining online from a GeForce RTX PC, while the mission instructions referenced both the Nvidia App and GeForce Experience. Nvidia also publicized GeForce NOW as an alternative route.
Those pages do not verify a blanket minimum such as “GTX 10-series or newer,” and owning an Nvidia GPU alone was not stated to guarantee eligibility. The careful conclusion is that the normal local-PC process depended on a supported Nvidia software environment, while eligible GeForce NOW members had a separate streaming route. When was the giveaway available?
The U.S. event page said online missions began on January 4, 2025, at 4:30 p.m. Pacific Time. Nvidia promoted GeForce LAN 50 as a 50-hour festival spanning January 4–6, 2025. Regional pages displayed the corresponding local times, including January 5 in parts of Europe and Asia.
The published claim period is long past. The event page remains useful as an archive of the rules, but it is not evidence that the missions are active now. Installing the current Nvidia App will not, by itself, bring back a January 2025 mission.

Online missions were separate from the physical LAN prizes
GeForce LAN 50 also included in-person activities in Las Vegas, Beijing, Berlin and Taipei, with gaming, tournaments, contests and raffles. Those activities were context for the festival, not a requirement for the online game rewards.
Nvidia’s Las Vegas Raffle Official Rules describe a separate promotion requiring a registered seat and attendance at the Nvidia booth. Completing a game mission did not automatically enter someone in that hardware raffle, and attending the physical event was not the stated method for claiming the digital cosmetics.
Why old guides are confusing in 2026
- Archived Nvidia pages still show the original steps without making the expired date prominent in every view.
- Secondary articles may call the rewards “free games,” although they were in-game items.
- Some coverage lists only World of Warcraft and Diablo IV, omitting The Elder Scrolls Online, Fallout 76 and THE FINALS.
- Unverified hardware-generation requirements are sometimes presented as official rules.
- Instructions can omit the required restart-and-claim step or the word “continuous.”
If an old guide says the mission is missing, the most likely explanation today is simply that the January 2025 promotion ended. During the original window, sign-in problems, outdated software, a session ending before 50 continuous minutes or a disconnect could also prevent completion. A claimed reward that did not appear could have involved the wrong game account, synchronization delay or a game-specific inventory location; Nvidia did not publish a universal troubleshooting path.

Nvidia presented these as special GeForce LAN 50 rewards. The official pages supplied for the event do not prove that every item had never appeared through another promotion, paid channel or drop. Claims about prior or later availability should therefore be checked against the relevant game publisher or platform rather than treated as an Nvidia exclusivity guarantee.

Should you buy Nvidia hardware for these rewards?
No. The event is expired, and Nvidia did not state that purchasing a graphics card was necessary for the mission rewards. GeForce software is relevant to supported Nvidia users, and GeForce NOW was promoted as a possible streaming route, but neither is a reason to buy a GPU solely to obtain the old Armored Bloodwing, Creeping Shadows, Pineblossom Vale Elk, Fallout 76 outfits or Corrugatosaurus Mask.
Existing AMD or Intel hardware may still run the games locally, but it would not automatically provide access to an Nvidia-specific mission. Other cloud services may provide game access, yet they would not recreate this Nvidia promotion. For current cosmetics, the practical place to look is the relevant game’s present-day store or event system; those offerings are separate from GeForce LAN 50.

Did I need an RTX graphics card?
