There is no officially announced or released Nvidia GeForce RTX 4080 Ti. As of August 18, 2026, Nvidia’s relevant Ada Lovelace refresh is the GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER, released on January 31, 2024, from $999 in the United States. The current-generation card occupying the RTX 4080 class is the RTX 5080, launched at $999 in the U.S. on January 30, 2025.
That means there is no reliable RTX 4080 Ti launch date, MSRP, or specification sheet to wait for. Listings using the name should be treated as mislabeled, speculative, modified, or potentially fraudulent until the underlying model is verified.

Is the RTX 4080 Ti real?
Nvidia has not announced or released a retail GeForce RTX 4080 Ti. The company’s official RTX 40 SUPER announcement lists the RTX 4080 SUPER, RTX 4070 Ti SUPER, and RTX 4070 SUPER, but no RTX 4080 Ti (Nvidia Newsroom). Nvidia’s RTX 4080 family page likewise identifies the RTX 4080 and RTX 4080 SUPER, not a Ti model.
This is a statement about publicly confirmed products, not a claim about every internal prototype Nvidia may have evaluated. “Canceled” is also too strong without a formal Nvidia announcement: no retail RTX 4080 Ti was publicly confirmed in the first place.

Why people remember a 4080 Ti
Rumors used two names for the same possible refresh
Before Nvidia’s January 2024 announcement, reports discussed a high-end refresh as either an RTX 4080 SUPER or an RTX 4080 Ti. Tom’s Hardware covered speculation about a card arriving in early 2024 near the original RTX 4080’s $1,199 launch price (Tom’s Hardware). Nvidia ultimately used the SUPER name.
It is reasonable to say the RTX 4080 SUPER filled the market position that rumor coverage had assigned to a possible Ti model. It is not established that Nvidia renamed a completed RTX 4080 Ti internally.
The canceled RTX 4080 12GB was a separate event
Nvidia canceled the originally announced RTX 4080 12GB before retail launch; that GPU later appeared as the RTX 4070 Ti after being renamed (Tom’s Hardware). This does not demonstrate that an RTX 4080 Ti existed.
RTX 4080 Ti release date
There is no announced release date because there is no confirmed product. The dates that often get mixed into RTX 4080 Ti searches are the launches of real cards:

RTX 4080 Ti price and rumored specifications
An RTX 4080 Ti has no Nvidia MSRP. Historical articles floated prices around $999 to $1,199 or higher, but those were unconfirmed projections, not a price list. Likewise, claims of 20GB or 24GB of VRAM, a fully enabled AD102 GPU, more than 16,000 CUDA cores, or an early-2024 release were rumors rather than verified specifications.
Do not use those figures to evaluate a listing or decide whether to wait. The confirmed $999 U.S. launch price belongs to the RTX 4080 SUPER, not an RTX 4080 Ti.
The real RTX 40 answer: RTX 4080 SUPER
Nvidia announced the RTX 4080 SUPER on January 8, 2024, and made it available January 31, 2024, with a $999 U.S. starting price (Nvidia’s announcement). Its published specifications are:
| Specification | RTX 4080 SUPER | RTX 4080 |
|---|---|---|
| Architecture | Ada Lovelace | Ada Lovelace |
| CUDA cores | 10,240 | 9,728 |
| Boost clock | 2.55GHz | 2.51GHz |
| Memory | 16GB GDDR6X | 16GB GDDR6X |
| Memory interface | 256-bit | 256-bit |
| Nvidia-listed bandwidth | 736GB/s | 717GB/s |
| U.S. launch price | $999 | $1,199 |
The SUPER therefore delivered more CUDA cores and bandwidth than the original RTX 4080 while launching $200 lower. It remains the closest genuine 40-series match for what many rumor stories called a 4080 Ti.

The actual newer successor: RTX 5080
The RTX 5080 is the relevant Blackwell-generation successor to the RTX 4080 class. Nvidia announced a $999 U.S. starting price and availability from January 30, 2025 (RTX 50-series announcement). Nvidia’s specifications compare it with the original RTX 4080 as follows:
| Specification | RTX 5080 | RTX 4080 |
|---|---|---|
| Architecture | Blackwell | Ada Lovelace |
| CUDA cores | 10,752 | 9,728 |
| Memory | 16GB GDDR7 | 16GB GDDR6X |
| Memory bandwidth | 960GB/s | 717GB/s |
| Tensor Cores | Fifth generation | Fourth generation |
| RT Cores | Fourth generation | Third generation |
| Upscaling and frame generation | DLSS 4 | DLSS 3 |
| U.S. launch price | $999 | $1,199 |
Nvidia advertises the RTX 5080 as up to twice as fast as the RTX 4080 in selected games and settings. That is a vendor claim based on particular test configurations, not a universal performance guarantee. The RTX 5080 product page contains the card’s detailed specifications.

Choose an RTX 4080 SUPER when the discount is substantial
- You find new, open-box, or used stock with a trustworthy warranty.
- Its price is clearly below comparable RTX 5080 cards.
- 16GB of VRAM and Ada-era DLSS 3 features meet your gaming or creator workload.
Do not pay RTX 5080 money for an older RTX 4080 SUPER unless its condition, cooler, warranty, or other factor gives it a specific advantage.
Choose an RTX 5080 for current-generation features
- You want Blackwell, GDDR7, higher memory bandwidth, newer ray-tracing hardware, and DLSS 4.
- The price difference from a properly warranted RTX 4080 SUPER is modest.
- You prefer a current-generation card rather than discontinued or leftover stock.
The $999 figure is a launch MSRP, not a guaranteed August 2026 retail price. A recent U.K. price-watch report cited an RTX 5080 listing at £1,169.99, showing why country, seller, tax, and stock matter (PC Gamer).

Consider an RTX 5070 Ti for a lower budget
Nvidia announced the RTX 5070 Ti at a $749 U.S. starting price (Nvidia). That is a launch MSRP, not a guaranteed current price. It suits buyers who want current-generation Nvidia features and 16GB of memory without paying for the 4080-class tier, but it is not the choice for maximum 4K ray-traced output.
Look beyond Nvidia when CUDA and DLSS are not requirements
AMD and Intel cards may offer better value for a particular rasterized-gaming budget. Compare current local prices and software support rather than assuming an RTX label is automatically superior. Nvidia-specific CUDA, DLSS, NVENC, or application support can justify choosing Nvidia for creator, AI, streaming, or professional workloads.
Should you wait for an RTX 4080 Ti?
No—not on the basis of current evidence. There is no confirmed product, launch window, MSRP, or specification sheet. Waiting for an unannounced name can mean missing a real discount or delaying an upgrade for no defined benefit. Compare the RTX 4080 SUPER, RTX 5080, RTX 5070 Ti, and competing cards that are actually available from reputable sellers.
How to check a supposed RTX 4080 Ti listing
Marketplace titles are not proof of a GPU model. A 2026 buying guide identifies recurring “RTX 4080 Ti” results as third-party metadata, old speculation, mislabeled products, or scams (Alibaba Electronics). Use this verification process:
Recommended Free Tools
- Open Nvidia’s official GeForce product pages and check whether the exact model name exists.
- Find the board manufacturer’s technical page and match the full model and part number.
- Ask the seller for the board-part number, box label, warranty terms, return policy, and clear photographs.
- After installation, verify the GPU name with GPU-Z or the Nvidia App rather than trusting the listing title.
- Check for a normal retail BIOS, expected memory capacity, and a valid manufacturer warranty.
If the box says RTX 4080 SUPER while the listing says RTX 4080 Ti, treat the manufacturer label and part number as authoritative. A modified or engineering-sample board may report unusual memory or firmware, but that does not make it an official retail RTX 4080 Ti; it may have driver, cooling, stability, power, and warranty problems.
Bottom line
Nvidia never publicly confirmed a retail RTX 4080 Ti, so there is no legitimate release date, MSRP, or verified Ti specification list. The RTX 4080 SUPER is the real Ada refresh, while the RTX 5080 is the current Blackwell successor. Buy according to the actual card, price, warranty, VRAM needs, and workload—not a marketplace title or an old rumor.
