Nvidia’s GeForce Game Ready Driver 576.02 WHQL, released on April 16, 2025, added official RTX 5060 Ti support and addressed a wide range of black-screen, monitor, game-crash, and stability problems. It was an important corrective release for early RTX 50-series driver issues, but it was not a universal cure—and it is not the driver most users should install today. Nvidia’s later 576.28 release fixed additional problems associated with the earlier package.
What Driver 576.02 was
Driver 576.02 was Nvidia’s R575 U1 GeForce Game Ready release for Windows 10 64-bit and Windows 11. It was WHQL-certified, released on April 16, 2025, and listed by Nvidia at approximately 684.83 MB for the GeForce package. The official driver entry links to the complete release notes.
The launch context was Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 5060 Ti. The package added official support for that GPU, along with DLSS 4 support for Black Myth: Wukong, DLSS 4 Multi-Frame Generation support for No More Room in Hell 2, 19 new G-SYNC Compatible display profiles, and six new Optimal Playable Settings profiles. Many of the fixes, however, were not exclusive to the RTX 5060 Ti. Some affected RTX 50-series systems generally, while others applied to RTX 40-series cards, particular monitors, games, or earlier driver versions.
Nvidia’s release notes and contemporary coverage described roughly 40 gaming and general fixes. That does not mean Nvidia fixed 40 separate black-screen bugs. The list included game crashes, rendering problems, DLSS and Frame Generation behavior, display connectivity, installation failures, system hangs, and monitor-specific issues.

What problems did 576.02 address?
Black screens, boot failures, and monitor problems
The release addressed several especially disruptive display failures:
- Random black screens on some RTX 50-series systems.
- Black screens during driver installation or while booting into Windows.
- DisplayPort 2.1 link-rate instability on the LG 27GX790A-B when using UHBR10.
- A black screen on the LG 45GX950A-B with DisplayPort 2.1 and HDR enabled.
- Blue-screen behavior when protected video was played across two DisplayPort outputs on RTX 5090 systems.
- Other monitor and multi-display stability problems.
These were targeted fixes, not proof that every no-signal or black-screen problem was caused by the Nvidia driver. A faulty cable, incorrect monitor input, unsupported refresh-rate or HDR combination, monitor firmware, Windows corruption, a motherboard BIOS issue, inadequate power delivery, or failing hardware can produce similar symptoms.
Game crashes and freezes
The game-related fixes included random crashes in Fortnite, a DXGI device-removed crash in The First Berserker: Khazan, and a freeze in Star Wars Outlaws after the game had been left idle.
Nvidia also addressed crashes or stability problems in titles including Hellblade 2: Senua’s Saga and The Last of Us Part I when Smooth Motion was enabled. The release covered several other game-specific rendering and stability faults.

576.02 included stability fixes involving DLSS Frame Generation with G-SYNC, DLSS 4 Frame Generation behavior, and V-Sync stuttering. These changes mattered particularly to RTX 50-series owners testing the new DLSS 4 feature set, but a driver update cannot guarantee that every Frame Generation crash or stutter has the same cause.

Problems tied to earlier 572-series drivers
The 572 driver branch introduced RTX 50-series support and DLSS 4, but some users reported black screens, crashes, failed installations, and broader system instability. Nvidia’s 576.02 notes specifically covered:
- A system hard hang when Driver 572.16 was loaded.
- A black screen in 3DMark with Drivers 572.02 or 572.16.
- Black-screen behavior during driver installation and Windows startup.
Contemporary troubleshooting reports sometimes recommended returning to 566.36, the last driver revision before the 572 branch, when a newer package caused reproducible problems. That was a period-specific fallback, not a universal recommendation for modern systems.
Why the “40 issues” headline needs context
The 576.02 release was significant because it attempted to repair several layers of the driver stack at once. But “40 fixes” compresses very different problems into one number. A user with a specific display failure should match the symptom to the documented configuration rather than assume the update fixes every issue in that category.
| Symptom | Relevant 576.02 fix category | Important qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Black screen during installation or Windows boot | Driver installation and boot fixes | Does not prove every installation failure is a driver bug. |
| LG 45GX950A-B black screen with DP 2.1 and HDR | Monitor- and connection-specific fix | Applies to the named configuration, not all DisplayPort monitors. |
| Crash with DLSS Frame Generation and G-SYNC | Gaming stability fix | May not cover every Frame Generation crash. |
| 3DMark black screen with 572.02 or 572.16 | Earlier-driver-specific fix | Does not establish a universal 3DMark solution. |
| Grey-screen crash with multiple monitors | Addressed in the later 576.28 release | Evidence that 576.02 was not the final solution. |
576.28 showed that 576.02 was not the final fix
On April 30, 2025, Nvidia published Driver 576.28. Its release notes fixed or addressed additional problems associated with the previous package, including:
- Black Myth: Wukong crashing when Wukong transformed.
- Red Dead Redemption 2 crashing shortly after starting in DX12.
- Horizon Forbidden West freezing after loading a save.
- Grey-screen crashes with multiple monitors.
- Dead Island 2 crashing after updating to 576.02.
- Resident Evil 4 Remake background-texture flickering.
- Shadow flicker or corruption in some games.
- Shader-compilation crashes.
- Nighttime-light flickering in Forza Horizon 5.
- Track corruption in Forza Motorsport.
This is the central caveat: a driver can fix one group of failures while introducing, exposing, or leaving behind another group. The 576.28 follow-up is why 576.02 should be treated as a historically important release rather than a definitive cure for RTX 50-series instability.

Should you install 576.02 today?
For most readers in 2026, no. Nvidia has published newer drivers since 576.02. Use the current GeForce driver-selection page, select the exact GPU and Windows configuration, and install the current compatible Game Ready Driver through Nvidia’s website or the Drivers tab in the Nvidia App.
576.02 made sense at launch for RTX 5060 Ti owners, users suffering from one of its documented problems, and testers investigating the early 572-series regressions. Today, it is mainly useful for historical troubleshooting or controlled comparison with a known driver version.
RTX 40-series owners should not install it simply because it launched alongside the RTX 5060 Ti. Base the decision on the specific game, display, or driver problem documented for your hardware. Notebook owners should first check the laptop manufacturer’s certified driver, since OEM packages may include system-specific changes. Nvidia’s notebook guidance recommends visiting the manufacturer’s support site for the recommended update.
If your system is stable, updating is not automatically beneficial. A newer Game Ready Driver may add game support and fixes, but it can also introduce a regression. Users running professional creative applications may also prefer a Studio Driver, which Nvidia positions for creator applications and workflows rather than as a universal replacement for Game Ready releases.

First determine whether the failure is tied to installation, Windows startup, waking from sleep, changing refresh rate, HDR, a particular game, or a multi-monitor setup. Then work through the least invasive checks:

- 2.5-slot design allows for greater build compatibility while maintaining cooling performance
- Wait briefly after rebooting or installing; the display can reset while the driver initializes.
- Confirm that the monitor is set to the correct input.
- Power-cycle the monitor and reconnect the video cable.
- Try another DisplayPort or HDMI cable and another GPU output.
- Temporarily disable HDR, G-SYNC, unusual refresh rates, or DisplayPort 2.1 UHBR modes.
- Test with one monitor connected.
- If Windows remains unusable, boot into Safe Mode and roll back or remove the display driver.
- On a notebook, test the manufacturer’s certified graphics driver.
- If software changes do not help, check GPU seating, auxiliary power connectors, BIOS, chipset drivers, PCIe compatibility, and monitor firmware.
- If only one game fails, test another rendering API and temporarily disable Frame Generation, Smooth Motion, overlays, and aggressive overclocks.
These are general diagnostic steps, not fixes specifically guaranteed by 576.02.

When a rollback makes sense
Consider reverting when the problem began immediately after a driver update, remains reproducible across reboots, and the same hardware and software worked correctly with an earlier driver. Use a known-good installer where possible, and remember that rolling back can remove support for newer games, features, recently released GPUs, and later security or stability fixes.
The contemporary 566.36 fallback should not be treated as the best or safest driver for every system in 2026. If a current driver fails, compare the release notes and use Nvidia’s official support and feedback channels rather than repeatedly installing old packages at random.
Conclusion
Nvidia’s 576.02 was a broad April 2025 repair release that addressed real black-screen, DisplayPort, monitor, crash, and driver-branch problems while adding RTX 5060 Ti and DLSS 4 support. It addressed approximately 40 issues across several categories, not 40 universal black-screen faults. The subsequent 576.28 release fixed additional regressions, so the practical lesson is to match the driver to the symptom and use Nvidia’s current driver rather than deliberately installing 576.02 on a modern system.
