| CHECKOUT LINE IMPULSE BUYS | CANDY, CHAPSTICK, CHARGING CABLE, MAGAZINE | These are last-minute purchases associated with a checkout line. |
| MOVIES OF VARIOUS LENGTHS | EPIC, FEATURE, FILM SERIES, SHORT | Each names a film or film format with a different scope or length. |
| ___ ROAD | DIRT, HIGH, ROCKY, SILK | Each word can precede “road”: dirt road, high road, rocky road, and Silk Road. |
How the groups fit
Penalty verbs
ASSESS, CHARGE, FINE, and LEVY all work as verbs for imposing a penalty or fee. This is the most direct set: each word can describe charging someone an amount.
Checkout purchases
CANDY, CHAPSTICK, CHARGING CABLE, and MAGAZINE are grouped as impulse buys near a checkout. CHARGING CABLE is the less obvious fit, but it belongs to the puzzle’s last-minute purchase category.
