NYT Connections puzzle #887, dated Friday, November 14, 2025, mixes evaluation verbs, radio settings, action-film types and 1990s movie titles. Start with the light hints below, then reveal category names and the complete grid only if you need them.

Why this board is deceptive
SPEED and HEAT look as though they could form a pair based on intensity or temperature, but here they are simply two movie titles in the purple group. HARD BOILED can also suggest a crime-fiction category; recognizing it as the 1992 action film helps expose the intended movie set. The puzzle rewards finding four complete relationships rather than locking onto a tempting two-word connection.

How Connections works
Connections presents 16 words that must be divided into four groups of four. The game allows up to four incorrect guesses before the puzzle ends. The daily game is available through the New York Times website and Games app; access to its archive is described by the New York Times as part of an All Access or Games subscription, so current access terms may vary.
