NYT Connections puzzle #904 was published on Monday, December 1, 2025. Its 16 words resolve into four groups: COMPLETE TURN, CIRCULAR THINGS, KAFKA WORKS, WITH “THE”, and STARTING WITH LETTER HOMOPHONES. Use the spoiler levels below to stop as soon as you have enough help.

Light hints for each group
- Yellow: Think about making a complete trip around something.
- Green: These can be round or circular.
- Blue: Add “The” to the beginning; the results are associated with Franz Kafka.
- Purple: Each entry starts with a word that sounds like a letter name.

How to solve this puzzle without giving away the answer immediately
Start with the strongest literal relationship
CIRCUIT, LAP, ORBIT and REVOLUTION all describe a full trip around a route or center. Once those four are removed, the remaining words become easier to test.
Separate shape from meaning
FULL MOON, LP, PIZZA PIE and PUPIL share a visual idea rather than a grammatical phrase. Connections often mixes physical appearance with wordplay, so do not assume every category must use the same type of relationship.

Test titles and quoted words
CASTLE, JUDGMENT, METAMORPHOSIS and TRIAL may look like ordinary nouns. Adding “The” reveals four Kafka titles, which is the blue group.
Read the first words aloud
EYE, PEA, SEA and TEA sound like the letter names I, P, C and T. That sound-based pattern identifies the purple group. The remaining phrases are CONTACT, SOUP, CHANGE and LEAVES.

Watch for attractive but incomplete themes
REVOLUTION, METAMORPHOSIS, JUDGMENT and SEA CHANGE can all suggest transformation or change, but that tempting connection is not one of the puzzle’s four official groups. A valid category must account for exactly four words and leave a unique solution.
How Connections works
Connections presents 16 words and asks you to sort them into four groups of four. The New York Times Help Center says each puzzle has exactly one solution and is deliberately tricky because a word can appear to fit more than one category. Editors curate the words and categories using the Oxford Dictionary.

The groups are color-coded by difficulty: yellow is the easiest, followed by green and blue, while purple is the trickiest. You can make mistakes while testing a set, so confirm that all four words share the same precise relationship before submitting.
