What Connections is asking you to do

Connections presents 16 words and asks you to sort them into four groups of four that share a connection. The New York Times says the groups are color-coded from yellow, the easiest, to purple, the trickiest, and that each puzzle has one solution. The words and categories are curated by the game’s editorial team using the Oxford Dictionary. See the NYT Connections Help Center for the game’s official explanation.

Why the date may look different

NYT says the daily puzzle releases at midnight in each player’s timezone. As a result, an answer story published on December 20 can refer to the December 21 puzzle for players whose local date has already changed.
