CHER, CLYDE, HARDY, TELLER. The pairs are Sonny and Cher, Bonnie and Clyde, Laurel and Hardy, and Penn and Teller.

Purple: Rodents who are first in a cartoon duo

CHIP, ITCHY, PINKY, ROCKY. The pairs are Chip ’n’ Dale, Itchy and Scratchy, Pinky and the Brain, and Rocky and Bullwinkle.

Why the paired names are tricky

Two groups draw on duo names, but they use opposite selection rules: blue takes the second name from real-life pairs, while purple takes the first name from cartoon pairs. INKY and PINKY may also bring Pac-Man characters to mind, as can CLYDE; that association alone does not identify either Connections group. Check each tile against the complete category rule.
