NYT Connections #258 is the puzzle from February 24, 2024. If you want a nudge before seeing the solution, look for a four-letter pattern that starts with “win.” The full categories and answers are below the spoiler warning.

Hints for Connections #258

Connections asks you to sort 16 words into four groups of four. The categories have color-coded difficulty levels, but the answer archive for this puzzle does not verify a color or difficulty order for its groups.

  • One group consists of places where things are made.
  • For another group, notice four words that begin with the same three letters.
  • Some words name parts of fruit that people might discard.
  • The final group uses boxing weight classes.

When a possible grouping looks convincing, check that all four words fit the same rule—not just two or three—and that the rule accounts for the whole set. The “win” pattern is a useful observation, not an official hint.

How to solve this puzzle

The “Win + Letter” set offers a clear pattern: WIND, WINE, WING, and WINK each begin with WIN and end in a different letter. The other group labels describe places, fruit parts, and boxing divisions. Treat these as ways to check candidate sets rather than proof of an official solve order; the historical answer listing does not establish which group was easiest or which color it had.

For more general context on the game’s format, see The New York Times Connections. The full historical answer key is in Gamepur’s Connections answer archive.
