MEASURED IN DEGREES

ANGLE, CRIME, EDUCATION, TEMPERATURE

Why the purple group is tricky

“Measured in degrees” is the least literal category. An angle has a degree measurement, while crime, education and temperature each use “degree” in a different established sense: degree of criminality, an educational degree, or a temperature degree. Connections often includes words that appear to fit more than one group, but the intended solution is one exact set of four.

How Connections works

The New York Times describes Connections as giving players 16 words to divide into four groups of four. Groups are color-coded by difficulty: yellow is easiest and purple is hardest. The puzzle has one solution, even when several words seem to share a possible connection.
