NYT Connections puzzle #695 was released on Tuesday, May 6, 2025. Start with the spoiler-light clues below, then open the category names or complete word groups only if you want more help. The year matters: a May 6 puzzle from another year is a different game.
Hints for Connections #695
Try separating the clues from the answer reveal. The game deliberately uses words that can seem to fit more than one group, so a clue may point toward a theme without identifying every word.
| Group | Clue | Style of connection |
|---|---|---|
| Yellow | Tranquility | Direct association |
| Green | Wimbledon words | Tennis-related |
| Blue | Tiny | Words meaning small |
| Purple | Roasting at the start | Wordplay |
These clue descriptions were reported by TechRadar. The category names and solutions are also listed in the HintPulse archive.

Spoilers below: this section gives the four category labels. The full word groups follow.

Answers to Connections #695
Full spoilers: the four solved groups are:
- Silence: CALM, HUSH, PEACE, STILL
- Tennis competition units: GAME, MATCH, SET, TOURNAMENT
- Comparatively small: BABY, COMPACT, MINUTE, TOY
- Starting with synonyms for “tease”: KIDNEY, MOCKINGBIRD, RAZZMATAZZ, RIBBON
The complete 16-word board was HUSH, RIBBON, BABY, TOY, MINUTE, MOCKINGBIRD, GAME, RAZZMATAZZ, STILL, SET, COMPACT, PEACE, MATCH, CALM, KIDNEY, TOURNAMENT. The group solutions are corroborated by HintPulse and TechRadar.
Tips for solving the groups
Look for straightforward meanings first
CALM, HUSH, PEACE, and STILL meet at the idea of silence. For the smallness group, BABY, COMPACT, MINUTE, and TOY are all associated with a small size or scale. The clue is comparative: each points toward being small, rather than sharing one grammatical form.
Keep the tennis terms distinct
GAME, SET, and MATCH are familiar tennis scoring or competition terms; TOURNAMENT is the broader event. If several words seem to fit a sports theme, ask whether the same connection applies to all four.
Inspect the beginnings in the purple group
The last category depends on the start of each word: KIDNEY begins with KID, MOCKINGBIRD with MOCK, RAZZMATAZZ with RAZZ, and RIBBON with RIB. Those beginnings are synonyms or forms associated with “tease.”

How Connections works
Connections presents 16 words to sort into four groups of four. A correct group solves one category; an incorrect guess costs a life, and shuffling the board can help reveal relationships that are harder to spot in the original arrangement. The Forbes guide to the rules describes these general mechanics.
The NYT Help Center says: “Each puzzle has exactly one solution and is meant to be tricky by having words that could fit into multiple categories.” That overlap is why it can help to identify a possible group, then check whether another word also fits before submitting it.

The NYT Help Center says the daily puzzle releases at midnight in the player’s timezone. It also says eligible All Access and Games subscribers can access the full Connections archive, which dates back to June 12, 2023. Archive eligibility can change, so check the official NYT Games Help Center for current access details. Playing an archived puzzle affects selected statistics, but not current or maximum streaks.
The Help Center describes player statistics including completed puzzles, win rate, streaks, perfect puzzles, and a mistake histogram. It does not publish a puzzle-wide numeric result for #695, so those personal statistics should not be confused with a reported difficulty score for this board.
